Genessia Date Auction 2019: Plotting & Signups

When - 12:00pm January 12th, 2019
Where - Genessia City, in a hall that has been rented for the event thanks to Satou Kuroneko

A DATE AUCTION? AGAIN?
Collective groaning can be heard from the denziens of Genessia already, I'm sure. However, this one is going to be run quite a bit differently than the ones in the past! I have quite a few things planned beyond romantic dates to be auctioned off. There will also be a luncheon mingle for people to interact with each other before the auction, and then the auction proper will begin in the late afternoon.

Wait, You Said it's Different...
First, and most importantly: there will be NO forced signups this includes, but not limited to people signing up others without their express permission. I am sorry if this disappoints people, but it has been a point of contention ICly, and ICly Azura has decided not to accept registrations of this type because it was brought to her attention. Should characters seem uncomfortable or resistant then she will not let them participate. However, the structure of the auction is completely different from what it has been in the past, so those who may not have been willing to participate in a traditional auction may be more inclined to participate in this one!

Second, there will also be the option for platonic oriented, or friendship oriented dates. There will be two separate auctions for romantic and platonic should there be enough of both kinds, otherwise the kind of date up for auction will be mentioned in the dates top level when the auction begins. Speaking of "kind of date"...

Lastly, the date experience is the real show pony here. The Date themselves are the host to the experience, an added bonus. Those who sign up are encouraged to come up with a date experience to go along with themselves in order to get the money rolling in. Think an ocean themed date, with a trip to the aquarium, a dinner along the beach followed by a romantic boat ride or something more athletic like an afternoon session going fishing or snorkeling.

This will, however, involve the players who sign their characters up to come up with the date experience in this post. However I will offer help or randomization should players be completely stumped. BUT, because this is work intensive for me as the event runner, anyone who wants randomization must sign up before January 9th, 2019. Please try to come up with the experiences yourselves! Your characters will be filling out these sign ups ICly themselves, so hopefully they're putting some thought into it! Besides, they (and you!) know best what kind of date they would come up with.

REMEMBER: This is a CHARITY AUCTION. If you need motivation for your less social and romantically inclined characters, think of it as them donating their time in order to raise money for the charity!

SIGN UP RULES
(because we apparently need them)

  1. ROMANTIC Dates must be appropriately aged. Please do not sign up anyone younger than 16 for romantic dates. Those who sign up for romantic dates and are too young (this includes appearance, there will be no "their minds are adult" exceptions) will be removed or reorganized as a platonic date. I will contact players before doing this, should this be the case.
  2. PLATONIC Dates are just that, platonic. Any age may sign up, but keep the theme accompanying them appropriate. For kids, play-dates are a cute idea!

SIGNUPS

Basically...
So, you may be asking yourself at this point, "What the hell event is this?" It's mostly a fancy mingle, at the root of things. In Fancy Words: Azura has decided to run a carnival of sorts with a few extra bells and whistles outside of the normal carnival fare that will be all be explained below. There will, of course, be prompts and set dressing when the post(s) go up to make the event interesting and hopefully engaging! The event is open to everyone overall, but there are signups for booths so I can keep stuff in order and maintain my own sanity.

Carnival Attractions
There are several attractions that I plan on having at the carnival! There are also a few that are off the beaten path and a little more involved than the usual rides and attractions. But first, here are the attractions that are closer to normal speed:
  • Carnival Rides - These will range from ferriswheels, merry-go-rounds, teacup rides, smaller roller coasters, that weird ship ride, drop tower to things like a RomanTic Tunnel of Love, bumper cars, and a spooky haunted house of mirrors. I am open to suggestions for specific rides!
  • Game and Goods Booths - Darts, shooting ranges, tossing pingpong balls into cups to win prizes, to souvenir booths, fortune teller, build a bear type booths and other assorted booths. These will largely be filled with booths that players want to run and add for flavor.
  • Food Stalls - It's not a carnival without cotton candy, pizza, funnel cake and all sorts of good delicious foods. Like the goods and game booths, players will be able to run their own booths here!
Now, for the more experimental attractions. Not all of these are super involved but they're a little more involved than the usual carnival fare. They'll have their own special subheader in the carnival post.
  • Randomized Plays - There's no signing up for roles here, and it's definitely not as high brow as an opera. The carnival puts on randomized plays with participants being assigned roles when they sign up, or after they say they want in. It's never a role that would fit them traditionally, since the goal of these plays is comedy. Despite... the two plays chosen this year being Cats and Beauty and the Beast. Have fun with poor performances, hilarious ones, or just goofy shit going on behind the stage.
  • Obstacle Course - This would be set up outside the fair grounds. Think ninja warrior for this. ALL special abilities would be nullified by a special power nullifying generator, meaning this competition is based on your normal abilities only. No cheating, no flying just raw muscle and determination.
  • Eating Competition - What it says on the tin. A full 7 course meal would be served, each course only being set in front of the competitor after they've finished the first. Of course these are larger servings but speed is the key! Prizes include vouchers to restaurants in the area as well as a nice trophy
  • Jousting Competition - Usually these are done to win a fair maiden's hand. Instead, these colorful and campy jousting matches will be done to win redbills! And perhaps an all expenses paid vacation to a ritzy hotel where you'll be waited on hand and foot.

Timing & Organization

  • When is it? - Timing is important for an event like this. I am planning for the event to last one week, with the Carnival opening ceremony beginning Sunday night, and it being completely taken down by the following Sunday evening. September 16th through the 23rd is the date to remember.  The tournament the friday before will even be offering tickets to the carnival as a prize!
  • Post Organization - I am planning on a main post with several top levels for each activity listed earlier. Most all of these will have several prompts to get creative juices flowing, as well! The potential for a second sibling post is possible, but only if it's needed, or suggested for certain attractions!

Sign-Ups
There is only one activity that needs a sign up to participate: running a booth. ICly booths will cost a small fee on top of ticket price to run. OOCly, unless you want to play it out your character cannot afford one, payments for this are given and handwaved. 99% of all booths you might want your character to run will be accepted, but keep in mind this is a carnival and Azura will deny booths that are inappropriate. If you sign up for a booth that would be considered such, I'll make sure to let you know before it comes time for the carnival.

To sign up use this form:

10 November 2017 @ 02:29 pm
Hey everyone! As announced ICly, on November 20th there will be a gamewide cooking contest run by Whitley the Schnee Company! Instructions for applying to the contest are below, but I want to detail briefly how the contest is going to work oocly – what I want to emphasize is that characters do not need to be established chefs to enter, nor does a lack of experience mean they can’t possibly win!

When entering as a contestant, I’ll ask that you give your character a rating from 0-5 that best describes their level of experience in cooking as it pertains to the category they’re entering in, be it entrées or desserts. The ranks are described as follows:

0: No experience whatsoever – never cooked a day in their life.
1: Very little experience – maybe uses a toaster oven or microwave sometimes.
2: Can/has cooked , meals are passable, sometimes not great but always edible. Can follow a recipe, not so much innovate one.
3: Cooks with some regularity, meals are consistently good. Can successfully experiment with ingredients and procedures.
4: Cooks often (daily, or close to it), knows a kitchen like the back of their hand. Meals or dishes are always praiseworthy.
5: Cooking is what your character lives for, and they’re phenomenal at it. You’ll probably know if your character falls into this category.

When the contest is underway and characters present their dishes, I’ll use an online dice-rolling program to randomly grade their dish on a scale of 0-100. What your character’s experience level does is provide a bonus to this roll, with each point adding +5 to their score, meaning at a skill of 0 a character gets no bonus while at +5 they gain +25 points. This means that while a character with more cooking experience certainly has an advantage, they are NOT guaranteed to win! Alice Nakiri can roll a 1 and even with a +25 end up with only 26 points, while Orihime with no bonus to dinner entrées can potentially roll a natural 100 and win the whole thing with a seafood-and-Fruit-Loops casserole topped with chocolate and ketchup.

If you’re entering as a CONTESTANT, please reply to the entry thread below with the following information:

CHARACTER NAME: (duh)
CATEGORY ENTERED: (entrée or dessert?)
DISH BEING ENTERED: (what is your character making?)
SPECIAL INGREDIENTS/EQUIPMENT NEEDED: (you don’t need to mention anything that even MIGHT be available in an average restaurant-level kitchen, but if you need something special let me know here!)
CHARACTER’S EXPERIENCE: (0-5 based on the scale above. Remember, this is only regarding the field they’re entering in! If your character is a master dessert baker but is entering with a dinner, keep that in mind)

If entering a character to serve as a JUDGE, please reply to the judge application thread with the following information. Bear in mind the number of judges caps at 5 - if I get less than 5 applications then everyone who requested will get in, but if more enter then applications will be accepted based on experience:

CHARACTER NAME:
EXPERIENCE WITH CUISINE: (Are they a food blogger? Do they eat out a lot? Do they just… eat a lot in general? Anything you think might be applicable, mention it here!)
OTHER: (If your character would do something special to try and get a spot on the judge’s panel, mention it here. Be creative!)

If there are any other questions, there is a thread for that below as well. Good luck all, and happy cooking!

Hi all! Looking to do a post with Emerald and I need your help! She's too much of an asshole to do a normal post.

Basically she wants to post a list of facts (not made up rumors) that people would be embarrassed if others knew. She's very good at keeping unseen and tends to head through just about every subarchway regularly, so I was thinking she could've overheard/witnessed a lot across town. So here's where you come in: I don't know what everyone has been up to, so I can't do this without you. This is a great opportunity to have some fun drama with your character and their friends finding out something they didn't know about them.

If you're interested, please reply to this post with something that happened in Genessia that your character is trying to keep secret from others. An affair, that they helped kittens out of the rain despite being an ultimate badass and never wanting anyone to know, they killed a man, their secret gang hideout location, that they pay bribes to so and so, anything scandalous. It shouldn't be something they'd be proud of though because Emerald is not here to play your buddy.

I'll keep the post screened so that it's a surprise when the actual post goes up too, but please make sure if it involves more than just your character you ask the other player as well before replying with the deets. Please & thanks.

Lisa here, that ninja who play this witch Icy and Icy is about to bring a storm...and this time it's not a blizzard. It's an actual army.

What is the army you might be asking? Well they are called the Army of Darkness. The link I have provided will give you information on what kinds there will be and what exactly they are capable of.

The jist is basically you cut one down the middle, you'll end up dealing with two and so on and so forth. Because of this it could get overwhelming quite quickly if many people are battling them and cutting them down and so on. So, I decided I will limit the number they can multiply to make it somewhat easier to deal with without the possibility of Icy just outright winning due to overwhelming numbers.

I will also add some weaknesses that I either believe would be viable even without canon evidence or something that actually works based on watching the episodes again.

Below is the list of just somethings one can do that I will mention/add:

- Barriers. They can keep the army out of certain areas. It would not be something they can break themselves without Icy helping, which... it's Icy she will be focused on other things.

- Ice. This one is viable even though it was never used on them canonly. But it's obvious if you can freeze it it will stay frozen. However you break them, they might eventually reform...eventually being the word it will take them longer.

- Melting. This won't stop them exactly, but it can stop them forming within ten to thirty seconds and instead would take them from a minute or more to reform depending on the size (at maximum I would put four minutes). This would give people enough time to get away.

If you want to ask about another method, please put it in the army weakness section below and I will give an answer. However I will list one method that no matter how much I thought it over will not work. I will also explain the why behind it:

- Mind Control. The army do not have minds of their own at all. They are fully controlled by Icy as she is the source of them herself, thus mind control no matter how much I tried to think about it, just couldn't work. If Icy tells them to attack they will attack no matter how much you would try.

However I will note that the armies number one weakness though is Icy herself. If she gets knocked out then they will all just disappear, never to return.

Now you must be wondering which unlucky city is the target?

Is it Everglade... No because Icy thinks that place will just run itself into the ground, so might as well leave it.

Is it Fayren? While that place looks nice and has magic and would be a good place to take over, she thought of easier places to tackle.

Is it Nova City? While Icy would love to knock someone down who is ice themed and be on top, this is not the best choice.

Is it Genessia? No, I have nothing witty to insert here.

It's.... *Insert Drum Roll Here* Attleton?!

Yes, people who live in this fair city, or who go there will be extremely unfortunate from the 15th-16th of April when it all begins.

What will happen is at the beginning Icy will simply attack the Guardians office first because well...they are top dog, you knock them down it's easy as pie. I'm not sure if they will contact people or not as that is the choice of the players who play the Guardian and deputies, (If they don't, Icy will be making a feed regardless).

By the end of the weekend there will be a show down fight which will lead to Icy's downfall, which while it hasn't been 100% determined how exactly that will happen (I have somewhat talked about it with the guardian and co, but nothing 100% set in stone.), but never the less it will happen and she will end up in jail.

Even when this event is over and Icy is in Jail, I will still be playing her... Because Icy is stubborn as balls and in the Winx Club she always finds an escape eventually. I am 100% not kidding it happens nearly Every. Goddamn. Season. Even at times when we're told one could never escape.

If you have questions please direct them below and I will do a comment thing for planning for those who will be in the city and whom would want to get involved.

Hi folks! Now that there's a lull between mod plots, I figure now is a good time for Smithy to make his debut.

All the plot really involves is Smithy sending out his first lieutenant: Mack

And his small army of shysters:

Magical, knife-themed machines whose love of bouncing knows no bounds. They'll get up to terrorizing the citizenry of Fayren and...that's it! They have very simple needs.

All we need now is a group of good guys to pound them into coins! If I get enough interest, I'll probably put this up at most a week from now. Here's some ground rules:

1. No bad guys. I'm all for collaborating with other villains, ofc, but none to actually save the day or make a dent in Mack or his forces. Good guys need the work.

2. Power level: low-moderate. These are pretty weak mooks, being that this is Smithy's first lieutenant. You barely have to be above a normie to get rid of them. Not saying overpowered protagonists can't pitch in, but it won't be much of a challenge for them.

3. Goal: Once Mack is defeated, the rest will leave, morale broken. Mack himself can be fought by a group of 3 at most, though less is fine.

4. Other: But even if you're not on the boss-slaying squad, there's still stuff to do! The top level will have various sub-threads with the citizenry needing help from the rest of the Shysters in multiple ways. Of course, if you want your own character to be harassed as well, I'm happy to oblige.

5. Bonus: That's pretty much it! Leave a comment below if you want to get in on this. The more specific, the better! As a bonus, Smithy does have brainwashing powers. If you want something down the line where your character is conned into serving him, let me know so we can plot something out.

As always, feel free to hit me up on [plurk.com profile] JudgeCF for stuff. Happy Valentine's!

Cassian has made his first (faceless voiceless berk) murder!

This will be in Everglade of course, and there are three bodies in total, all with the same mutilations: ribs broken and pulled aside, hearts missing.

All murders have taken place in or around graveyards, and all of them display positioning similar to a body laid out for a wake, along with sporting a small wooden cross tucked into their hands.

Or rather a supernatural murder mystery.

A serial supernatural murder mystery.

Cassian, as some of you may know, is possessed. Specifically, possessed by the old god, Hastur. He's also ageless and immortal, but the only way he can maintain his health is to devour the flesh of a sacrifice. Or a few sacrifices. Specifically, the heart of the sacrifice.

I'm looking to get the murder train rolling here with that!

Cassian will, of course, be committing the murders incognito and... partially without any control of himself. Under the command of Hastur, his form becomes shrouded, and he appears to be a three dimensional shade with massive white eyes.

The bodies will always be mutilated in the same way, with the ribs broken and spread out and the heart removed.

I'm looking to plot with this! It will take place in Everglade, because... well where else would it be. Looking for people to combat the beast, to fight it, and one person to uncover who it is!

This last part will take some time, and there may be rest periods between murders, as with most serial killers. This plot won't be a main one at all, but a little undercurrent side thing for people to fuss with.

The climax of it will happen quite a ways down the road.

Any takers?

Now that the Festival of Fireflies is underway, it's time to line up the participants (and judges) of the wet t-shirt contest. Anyone is welcome to be a participant but for the judges panel it's first come first serve! Participts must sign up by the day the contest is held. Judges can sign up later on an as needed basis...

Looking for a fun, slightly less traumatic event? Emerald's Funhouse Escape Room Dates are here for you!

No but seriously, if you signed up or would like to oocly sign your character up for a date through Aphrodite's Matchmaking services for the following event, please reply to this post so I know who is going to be participating and can set up custom dates/escape rooms for the following event:
    1. Customers will go on a one-on-one blind date to an Escape Room, where they will be told that they will have to follow clues in order to find keys. Once they have all four keys, they will be able to save the day/escape the pirates/whatever their escape room theme is.

    2. Except Emerald fully plans to turn the power off and then quit her job as matchmaker (because she hates it anyway) halfway through the event without telling anyone who works there besides herself where the keys are, possibly after "turning up" the danger. (If it's a ship, she'll just leave the water running until the room starts flooding or a haunted house will have the AC turned to 10 degrees for 'chilling effect.')

    3. Characters (in pairs) will have to deal with being stuck in a room until either they find the keys without active assistance or scenarios or until a rescue crew comes in to break the doors down. No one will die unless they somehow get stuck in a room with a serial killer who signed up, which is not part of the event but between you and the other player (and possibly your god if that's in your belief system).
Overall it's just supposed to be a fun 'stuck in an elevator' scenario and a great opportunity to deepen or develop CR. Keep in mind that anyone who signs up won't get their choice of who their partner is- that'll be Emerald's choice! (Which means either me being a lil shit or RNG.) If you see anyone signed up who you ABSOLUTELY do not want to be partnered with, just PM me on Emerald's journal ([personal profile] unhappy). I won't tell anyone, you won't tell anyone, no one will have any problems or ask questions or make anything awkward or uncomfortable.

This is for fun! To sign up, just reply to this post with the following info:

It's totally fine for characters to sign other characters up from an IC standpoint (though the only official sign ups will be here)! CAVEAT: If your character would not show up if they weren't the one who signed themselves up, they need to at least have someone who will physically make sure they go upon being signed up. Emerald doesn't care enough to bother with no-shows, but OOCly you need to have a plan to get your character there- don't flake out on players, that's not cool. If something comes up and you can't participate, let me know and I'll change the partners so that everyone still has one.

As for when it is? The event takes place on Friday, July 8th! (I was going to put it this weekend, but I know that's a holiday for a lot of people and this will give people plenty of time to sign up too.) You must have your character signed up by Thursday, July 7th so that I have ample time to pair characters up and create an escape room scenario for them.

Okay, now that the feather has been found and Fai and Sakura have found it (But are unable to get it back) now the plot will become more open to people to do whatever they want. Try to get the feather for themselves, fighting you know the whole thing.

Gilhamesh's mun has something in mind that will be mentioned in my little thing, but here is how it is going/will go from here on and random things I need to mention:

- Fai and Sakura sensed the feather in Fayren and had gone to investigate, finding Gilgamesh in the process.
- Gilgamesh Being a douche refuses to give it back so Fai Being an idiot will try and fight him.
- However in the end Fai will die and Sakura captured.
- Gilgamesh is planning to take over Attleton. This will be a thing that is happening and has been given the okay for. Good luck Midboss.
- Now that it will become a bigger thing people can get involved and do what they want from this point on.
- If your character wants to fight him one on one...you would need to be willing to understand and accept your character might not win and will either get hurt... get seriously hurt or worse die. Not only because the feather is rather OPed but because Gilgamesh is OPed as well. This is why Fai died, even though he has a good decent amount of power behind him, he's not OPed.
- Villians can if they want to have a chance to attempt to get the feather for themselves. This isn't just about the heroes, villains can try too.
- Fai will try and help when he returns, however he won't be on the front lines and will most likely keep the fact he's alive again a secret from Gilgamesh.

Below you can post with what your character might do. If they don't want to be involved because they have nothing to do with it then ignore this. But for those whose characters would want to, have at it. Plot away.

Natalie has found her dutiful daughter; now it's time to get her hitched. BOYS BOYS BOYS. Are you willing to take the Esper challenge, while being silently judged through the finest spy equipment money can buy? I know you are.

The de-aging effect is still going on, but since you're not directly involved with Natalie per se, it's optional.

Hellllllo ladies and gentlemen,

This is Lisa, Fai's mun typing and Ami (Sakura's mun) and I are planning an interesting sort of plot. One with a feather involved. Why a feather you might ask?

Well here's the deal. Sakura's memories got turned into feathers and scattered and they can go pretty much anywhere. To other worlds, in dreams, even into other people in one case. It just so happens that there is one in Genessia somewhere. (Although I might say it can be in any one of the five cities. It depends on what I put below.)

For the event we will be having sign ups. People who sign up will be in with a chance to find this feather. I'm sure people might ask 'But why would my character want to find this feather.' Why my dear person the reason is this; This feather is very powerful. It can give a character great power (It could even be possible to take over a city if they wanted to)

Whoever signs up will be in for a chance to find it and do whatever they like for it; for a set time of course. Whoever gets it (Which will be determined by a RNG roll) will be contacted to discus some parts of the plot. It will only be then that we will post again to explain what will be going on and when.

I am hoping to get this all started by August at best so we'll have at least a week for sign ups and then a week with whoever wins the roll to plot things out.

So good luck.

All right! I'm off hiatus on Tuesday and Roman's coming back with a bang. Basically, he wants to conquer a subarchway. During my hiatus he was probably laying low and building up his connections/supplies/strategies, so if anyone wants in on this, let me know and we can backdate or handwave to your liking! There will be some buildup throughout this month. Kazuya will be setting up a branch of G Corporation in the target subarchway. Ideally I'd like to get some people, PCs or NPCs, infiltrating the power structure there. Things like that. Then, in June when the Guardians switch, Roman will take advantage of the transition period to make his big move and try full on hostile takeover.

So! We're looking for people who would like to volunteer a subarchway to be conquered! Or at least to have some serious unrest and damage while he tries to conquer it.

TL;DR:
  • Roman wants YOU to help him conquer a subarchway!
  • Sneaky wrongdoings through May
  • Hostile takeover in June to welcome the new Guardians
  • Who wants to volunteer their subarchway?

And of course feel free to plot about stopping him here, too!

EDIT: Since I ended up replying to most of you guys on plurk instead of this post, oops sorry Any objections to conquering the Tokyo subarchway? It's where Sun and Blake had there first date in Gen and Roman loves to wreck anything with personal significance.

Loki has been preparing to open a candy shop in Fayren for a while and he's finally going to open it... on April 1st... on April's Fools day. I was thinking of posting a log on that day for people to tag in it, if there's some interest! Though I need to backdate him advertising the shop ahaha...

Everyone who comes into the shop on that day will receive a small bag of candy. The trick is, over half of them have candy in them that will explode once you open the bags. The explosion is actually harmless, it's just some smoke and scary sounds... and the rest of the candy is edible if you dare to try them.

As a side note, I will be a bit slow next week, since I'll be leaving for parents. I will be tagging, even if not as much as I could. Well, I have been slow until now because of stress so really, nothing changes... I'm sorry for being so quiet though. This affects Levi, Ichiru Kiryuu, Loki Laevatein, Takuto Kira, Masayuki Hori and Yosuke Hanamura.

Hi all! Just a heads up to say that as the next round of events are starting to emerge, Attleton will be returning to it's old self come the weekend.

The outer walls of the Labyrinth will start crumbling after midnight on Friday night, and will start falling apart from the outside in throughout Saturday (if people really want to get hit by falling rubble). Come Sunday morning, all trace of the maze will have vanished.

There will, of course, still be a few monsters roaming in the shadows of the town, but at least the worst is over.

Backtagging/backdating is still totally cool if people want to poke this further (I'll be poking my old threads still), but otherwise, thanks for plotting with us everyone :)

You guys may remember that Fayren had an unfortunate incident with some pesky dragons a little while back.

Well, now it's time for Attleton to get a similar, loving treatment from Eve. Don't you all feel special?

(Here's the original plotting post for anyone who's curious:
http://genessia-ooc.dreamwidth.org/128653.html )

In the next few days, a labyrinth will rise up from the Attleton arena and spread outward into the city proper. The walls can't be flown over, and any attempts to blast/brute force your way through them will probably get you tossed out in somewhere you didn't expect.

Minotaurs, half-man half-bull monsters will be stalking the maze, attacking unsuspecting victims who wonder in too deep. But hey, at least if you stay in the arena proper the no-death rule applies, right? :D

That's probably not going to save you from the other threats roaming around, though. That statue looks strangely like that friend of yours, or your co-worker, or your housemate… funny coincidence, isn't it? Well, hopefully you don't run into the medusas yourself, or you might just join them.

(Of course, if you choose to get your character turned to stone, they'll either return to normal after the event or once the offending medusa has been killed. This can happen off-screen if you don't want your character out for the whole event.)

I'll do an IC post with Midboss to kickstart things off in the next few days, and the event'll go on for a couple of weeks or so. In the meantime, anyone who wants to plot can use this post, and me/Timmy'll be happy to answer any questions :)

Have fun, guys!
