OH BOY A MURDER MYSTERY

Or rather a supernatural murder mystery.

A serial supernatural murder mystery.

Cassian, as some of you may know, is possessed. Specifically, possessed by the old god, Hastur. He's also ageless and immortal, but the only way he can maintain his health is to devour the flesh of a sacrifice. Or a few sacrifices. Specifically, the heart of the sacrifice.

I'm looking to get the murder train rolling here with that!

Cassian will, of course, be committing the murders incognito and... partially without any control of himself. Under the command of Hastur, his form becomes shrouded, and he appears to be a three dimensional shade with massive white eyes.

The bodies will always be mutilated in the same way, with the ribs broken and spread out and the heart removed.

I'm looking to plot with this! It will take place in Everglade, because... well where else would it be. Looking for people to combat the beast, to fight it, and one person to uncover who it is!

This last part will take some time, and there may be rest periods between murders, as with most serial killers. This plot won't be a main one at all, but a little undercurrent side thing for people to fuss with.

The climax of it will happen quite a ways down the road.

Toby is a werewolf, not a traditional one, but a wolf and a soldier and what not. There is some information on his journal about him specifically. He likes helping out in Everglade so he'd probably help. The only question I have is will it smell like Cassian because then he'd recognize the scent because he's more or less a blood hound and had worked for an evil prick for 20 years.

Let me know! Cuz I think it'd be fun to have him head but if the smell thing is to annoying I can have him sit out and possibly toss someone else.

The smell thing will be very annoying. While parts of the area will distinctly smell like Cassian, the exact place where the murder takes place will smell like... whatever you imagine an interdimensional abomination against all life and sanity would smell like.

Not like pumpkin pie.

Cassian himself smells like old magic. Bone dust, book glue, leather and iron. That will almost always be found within a mile of the murder site, but the closer it gets to the actual place of death, the more the human scent will be replaced by Hastur.

Neat! Then TOby could totally be in cuz it's take him a little while to find Cassian then. I figured it's no fun if stuff is figured out right away, ya know?

Another hitch, he's a priest A and B, is five foot five, and looks sickly. Grayish skin, dark circles under the eyes, fairly thin and feminine looking. The bodies will usually be bigger, more powerful people.

Toby doesn't judge people by how they look cuz he's a big dude and most of the people who lay him flat are much smaller than him lol. He's also kind of an ass so it might be cool if someone protects Cassian while Toby goes after him lol

Okay, so before I offer my detective and superhero for this...

How long is this plot planned to last? Will there be clues available? Is there an end game planned out?

havent hashed out the length yet, but plenty of clues as it progresses. Barring the scent clues, there will be various clues that someone with a great knowledge of magic did the murders, specifically someone with a strong knowledge of necromancy.

It will deeply involve old Celtic spells in many places regarding the dead, pre-christianity, as well as several hints that the caster is a catholic despite all that, regarding burial rites.

As for end game, that depends on who catches him, and if they want to seek justice or attempt to end the curse that holds him.

Ah, in that case I might need to keep Conan out of it unless one of the other detectives wants to team up. He's scarily good at mundane murder cases and predicting criminal behavior, but he doesn't know anything about magical or supernatural things. He just doesn't have the knowledge background to help much in a case like this. Now if you wanted someone who could track him down based on the kinds of dirt left at the crime scene...

But I'll put Danny in for any kind of final battle that happens. He spends a lot of time patrolling around Everglade trying to stop trouble from happening.

Due to the nature of Hastur, there won't be a lot of average murder scene evidence. Conan will probably be able to figure out the murder weapon though due to iron residue on the bones from an old knife and the marks left on the bones!

Also that whoever attacked the victim had a huge amount of physical strength, as the bones won't have many saw marks on them, but rather would appear to have been cut in one or two hits.

This guy is highly interested in murders and investigating them! Though he has little interest in uncovering criminals or reporting them unless he deems their actions to be for despair. (Which this most likely counts towards.) He doesn't have any knowledge of supernatural stuff, but he's well read. He also has a maxed out luck stat that is helpful for being in the right place at the right time for finding clues.

I have two characters that could end up getting involved. Caelestis would feel obligated to investigate since he's part of the Rangers (and he often pokes his nose in on serious matters regardless), meanwhile Cipher is a [now cranky] demon who might be interested in finding the killer out of pure intrigue. Cipher's morality is questionable so he could go anywhere from aiding the cause solely out of his own curiosity, to offering Cassian shelter, or even leave red herrings to make the detectives' lives harder. I could throw either (or both with restrictions) in on this.

Cipher will happily do that because after his canon update he's prone to do crazy shit because he's bored. He's a master of illusory magic, so he could very easily create convenient scapegoats for Hastur. 'v'

Konoka pretty much lives in Everglade, is magically knowledgeable and runs a store dedicated to protecting people, so she could also look into the mystery. She's not strong on offense but will surely back up anyone deciding to pick a fight with Hastur once he's discovered.
