COOKING CONTEST SIGN-UPS!
Hey everyone! As announced ICly, on November 20th there will be a gamewide cooking contest run by Whitley the Schnee Company! Instructions for applying to the contest are below, but I want to detail briefly how the contest is going to work oocly – what I want to emphasize is that characters do not need to be established chefs to enter, nor does a lack of experience mean they can’t possibly win!
When entering as a contestant, I’ll ask that you give your character a rating from 0-5 that best describes their level of experience in cooking as it pertains to the category they’re entering in, be it entrées or desserts. The ranks are described as follows:
0: No experience whatsoever – never cooked a day in their life.
1: Very little experience – maybe uses a toaster oven or microwave sometimes.
2: Can/has cooked , meals are passable, sometimes not great but always edible. Can follow a recipe, not so much innovate one.
3: Cooks with some regularity, meals are consistently good. Can successfully experiment with ingredients and procedures.
4: Cooks often (daily, or close to it), knows a kitchen like the back of their hand. Meals or dishes are always praiseworthy.
5: Cooking is what your character lives for, and they’re phenomenal at it. You’ll probably know if your character falls into this category.
When the contest is underway and characters present their dishes, I’ll use an online dice-rolling program to randomly grade their dish on a scale of 0-100. What your character’s experience level does is provide a bonus to this roll, with each point adding +5 to their score, meaning at a skill of 0 a character gets no bonus while at +5 they gain +25 points. This means that while a character with more cooking experience certainly has an advantage, they are NOT guaranteed to win! Alice Nakiri can roll a 1 and even with a +25 end up with only 26 points, while Orihime with no bonus to dinner entrées can potentially roll a natural 100 and win the whole thing with a seafood-and-Fruit-Loops casserole topped with chocolate and ketchup.
If you’re entering as a CONTESTANT, please reply to the entry thread below with the following information:
CHARACTER NAME: (duh)
CATEGORY ENTERED: (entrée or dessert?)
DISH BEING ENTERED: (what is your character making?)
SPECIAL INGREDIENTS/EQUIPMENT NEEDED: (you don’t need to mention anything that even MIGHT be available in an average restaurant-level kitchen, but if you need something special let me know here!)
CHARACTER’S EXPERIENCE: (0-5 based on the scale above. Remember, this is only regarding the field they’re entering in! If your character is a master dessert baker but is entering with a dinner, keep that in mind)
If entering a character to serve as a JUDGE, please reply to the judge application thread with the following information. Bear in mind the number of judges caps at 5 - if I get less than 5 applications then everyone who requested will get in, but if more enter then applications will be accepted based on experience:
CHARACTER NAME:
EXPERIENCE WITH CUISINE: (Are they a food blogger? Do they eat out a lot? Do they just… eat a lot in general? Anything you think might be applicable, mention it here!)
OTHER: (If your character would do something special to try and get a spot on the judge’s panel, mention it here. Be creative!)
If there are any other questions, there is a thread for that below as well. Good luck all, and happy cooking!

EXPERIENCE WITH CUISINE: somehow a really good cook (4-5 in game) despite a lack of formal training? (Altus plz explain someday?) Talks about cooking more and more in every supplemental material for Persona 3. Apparently has a lot of opinions on what makes good food.
OTHER: Primarily, is volunteering as a judge to get out of competing. So, if more than five people want to judge, he’ll gracefully bow out in order to let someone else do it.
no subject
EXPERIENCE WITH CUISINE: She's been winning awards for her molecular gastronomy cooking since she was a bitty. She's also from a cooking manga/anime and may not be a main character but she's one of those pretty hella side characters who can stand up to one of the circle of dudes dominating the shounen manga.
And usually has to provide the exposition/science side of things bc no one else knows wtf they're talking about. Also both of her parents have been judges of food battles in her series so it's in her blood! 8D Also she's a celebrity chef here and they can re-open their super awesome restaurant Nakiba now bc it's been a month finally. ALSO BC I FORGOT BECAUSE SHE LITERALLY DIDNT REALIZE: She was also the president of the Cutting Edge Cooking Research Society at Totsuki. She just wanted their space so she challenged them and became captain and then just.. she does what she wants, I'm sorry.OTHER: She'll cook for him one time to prove her skills are up to par. (Probably the only person in game who would be better than her is Ryo.) Also Whitley would probably want to know that her parents own Nakiri International, the top culinary research company in her world. (Their family also runs the most competitive cooking school, though that's her cousin's side more than her own.
She would probably note that unless Ryo is competing she doubts it'd be any fun to beat everyone anyway since it wouldn't really be a competition. (She is kinda rude about being top tier, sorry everyone.)

EXPERIENCE WITH CUISINE: None really, but she would literally jump at any excuse to eat free food. College life, yo.
OTHER: Beg. She will literally beg and plea for the opportunity to be a judge.
no subject
Experience With Cuisine: Level 60 Culinarian, winner of the Dellemont d'Or (basically the biggest chef battle in Eorzea)
Other: She is perfectly willing to provide a dish or two of her own, to prepare the combatants. These dishes will increase their proficiency at cooking for an hour.
no subject
EXPERIENCE WITH CUISINE: He's a total expert. He ate out that one time.
Okay so he doesn't normally eat.OTHER: He's so excited to try new things, since he hasn't eaten steadily in some nine odd years, he'll beg. Hands clasped and everything!
