First Dragons, Now…Medusa?

You guys may remember that Fayren had an unfortunate incident with some pesky dragons a little while back.

Well, now it's time for Attleton to get a similar, loving treatment from Eve. Don't you all feel special?

In the next few days, a labyrinth will rise up from the Attleton arena and spread outward into the city proper. The walls can't be flown over, and any attempts to blast/brute force your way through them will probably get you tossed out in somewhere you didn't expect.

Minotaurs, half-man half-bull monsters will be stalking the maze, attacking unsuspecting victims who wonder in too deep. But hey, at least if you stay in the arena proper the no-death rule applies, right? :D

That's probably not going to save you from the other threats roaming around, though. That statue looks strangely like that friend of yours, or your co-worker, or your housemate… funny coincidence, isn't it? Well, hopefully you don't run into the medusas yourself, or you might just join them.

(Of course, if you choose to get your character turned to stone, they'll either return to normal after the event or once the offending medusa has been killed. This can happen off-screen if you don't want your character out for the whole event.)

I'll do an IC post with Midboss to kickstart things off in the next few days, and the event'll go on for a couple of weeks or so. In the meantime, anyone who wants to plot can use this post, and me/Timmy'll be happy to answer any questions :)

So... yeah. Dracula is gonna want to hunt Medusa down if he figures out there's a Medusa/Medusa-esque creature on the loose, since he gave up his dominance over her and the Medusa heads to bring Castlevania into the city.

That works! If you want to play out a log, I'm totally happy to set something up (or Timmy might, given that they're Eve's monsters). But either way, hunting down stuff and fighting can totally happen :)

question: are the dragons still roaming fayren, or have they ceased activity now that the medusas are out and about?

There are still some dragons there... because I think, Eve would never allow her children to go extinct so easily. They have been minimized I believe..... (I lack in the whole... 'I should tag more" area)

How far into the city will all this go? Is it like... up until the doorstep of Attleton residents? I play one of like two residents (if the housing page tells me right), so this is interesting.

In theory, it'll cover the whole of Attleton, but it's ultimately up to individual muns - if you'd really rather it didn't turn up on your muse's doorstep, we can assume it stopped a little way before that. If, however, you want it to turn up on their doorstep then that totally works too. :)

This Succubus here is frankly going to do something hilariously stupid - going into the maze intentionally seeking treasure. There is one planned encounter, but other meetings could happen?

1. So if we want to engage in this, do our characters have to be trapped for several weeks? Or is it possible for them to find their way out?

2. I assume it's possible to enter the maze on purpose?

3. Can people inside the maze communicate with those outside?

And is the only way to get someone unstoned to kill the medusa? There's no other method of reversing that?

Killing the medusa responsible or just waiting it out are the two main methods. Also, it's totally cool to assume that the medusa is killed off-screen by someone if you don't want to be siting out the whole event.

What other methods did you have in mind though? I'll poke Timmy and check.

I didn't have anything specific in mind! It's a cool situation to play with, but Armin wouldn't want to kill anything that appeared to be sentient if he had any other choice - so I wanted to make sure I knew all the options before deciding whether to throw him into that situation.

1. It's a challenge - so they won't be able to find their way out straight away - but it is possible for people to find the exit after a few days if you don't want them stuck there the whole time.

2. Yup, people are perfectly capable of walking in on purpose.

3. Yeah, communicators still work in the maze, so communication is possible.
