How's My Driving?

It's the end of the month, and that means it's time for ol' HMDsky to make an appearance. These will always be optional, and never anonymous. Concrit is easier to accept when it comes from somebody you know, in my humble itty bitty opinion. On that note, be kind. Suggest ways a person can improve instead of just pointing out what he or she is doing wrong, and mention what you like as well as what you don't. If you have nothing to offer but shameless praise, I doubt anyone will object.

Yup, we get concrit too! What do you like about the game? What do you think could be improved? How can things be more shiny? Let us know!

What I like about the game is that it provides fun ways for people to do the necessities while still being fun. The random job fair was a good way to get character's professions started while also being interesting.

What I think could be improved is for the mystery of Genessia itself to be explored a bit more. Not all at once, mind. Gotta trickle these things. But there's something going on in this place, and there's probably a few sleuthy types who might wanna find out. ;D

Thank you for the feedback! Glad you had fun with the job fair, I enjoyed putting it up too and seeing what people did with it.

As for metaplot, you are correct. Something IS going on. :D We just want to make sure it isn't rushed or forced on people/characters who aren't actively investigating. However, here are some triggers that could result in mysteries:

1. Messing with the barrier, especially in one of the sub-cities.
2. Taking up a character who was previously dropped, and wasn't killed as a means of dropping.
3. Going on an archaelogical dig.
4. Trying to hack the CPU.

And, of course, if there's ever anything you'd like to plot with your character, feel free to contact either one of us so we can make it happen.

Seriously, let me know if I need to correct or emphasize any of the above characters. The new ones in particular would be super helpful, and even the ones I've been playing a while could use some feedback to make sure I haven't lost their voices.

As far as I can tell, you've still got your characters down. Though I'm not that sharp on Sailor Moon anymore since I haven't watched it in... yeeeeears. I also never watched Bleach, and am no Mega Man fan.

As far as your Yang, Kirk and Cap'n Hammer go though, they're wonderful! Lust is tricky since last I remember she got really, really burned in Brotherhood.

There's a lot I need to brush up on in terms of canons.

Cherise is also alright. It's tricky with OCs. By default people seem to expect Mary-Sue characters when people have range to make one themselves. She doesn't come off that way, so that's a good thing.

Aw, thank you so much! And yeah, OC's are tricky in that respect. I had to revamp her from an old game I played in and switch some things around to make her more of a person, so I'm relieved she's not coming across as a Mary Sue. Appreciate it!

So far, so good! The trouble with kitchen sink musefests is that it's hard to see multiple facets of characters' personalities without some kind of trigger. Haven't seen Raye blow up at anybody, cause no one really actively annoys her. She's annoyed half the time, so seeing calm, collected Raye 99% of the time is strange. And Yang hasn't gotten to be sufficiently sassy since there's no human bad guy for her to punch(yet). You play them well, I think they just need more people to contrast with.

She's yelled at Harry a few times, but yeah, Raye needs more people around that will frustrate and annoy her because what is patience. XD Thanks! And if you're volunteering Bison for sassy and punching... :3

So, how am I doing? Aside from feeling like I ought to participate/initiate more, it'd be nice to know what, if anything, I could touch up on.

A certain someone told me that this is actually your first time roleplaying in journal format. If this is true, I'm completely blown away, because you just seem to get it. You know how to respond to people without commanding their character's reactions while giving them plenty to respond to. Every single one of your posts, from every character, is just sheer delight. Even though I'm not familiar with Ice King outside of the clip you showed, he makes me laugh so hard. I loved his application at Harry's booth, that was fantastic. And you have no idea how hard I laughed when Jaune got rained on by a cat. omfg.

In short, you're doing everything right, and I love it. Keep it coming!

It actually is my first time doing this. It's not that different than forum role-playing however, which is something I've done before. I really do miss the days of using chat rooms to role-play. It seemed so much easier to meet new people and mingle with new groups that way. But Dreamwidth is proving to be a great alternative in the absence of chat rooms. Role-playing just isn't as popular as it used to be...

But I've been doing it for a while, and I fancy myself something of a writer. I'm glad the experience is transferring well, and I'm more than glad that you're enjoying yourself!

I'm not familiar with any of the muses apart from Ice king, so I can't really HMD them on accuracy (Sorry ^_^;;), but I like the way you play them. Every thread we've had has been awesome.

However. Ice King, I can say not only is he so, so much fun to play off, he is exactly on the money. I cannot praise you enough for him!

I can't wait to see Smithy roll out, but that's just because I love how well you've nailed your characters so far. Bison's posturing is spot on, and I cracked up laughing at Frollo's "get off my lawn" post because it was just so perfect. Karina's fantastic too, I love that you're willing to keep her flaws, and the new dialogue you've crafted for her just seems so canon. That's got to be tough to pull off, so mad respect!

As for suggestions, that's a tough one. I think you're doing a really good job as it stands. I suppose if you want to trot out your villains more often, it's usually best to plot with someone OOCly beforehand just to make sure they're okay with being ambushed or attacked. Me, I'm totally fine with it, but some other people might be all "wait no please NO PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T KILL ME I JUST GOT HERE"

I know I'm brand new, and I've been slow the past few weeks because of work and getting ready for the holidays. I should be a bit faster in January. <3

I was hoping you'd ping because I've been dying to mention how much I enjoy the way you play Nora. I've seen a few other players take her over the top with her kookiness, instead of focusing more on just her being energetic and chatty. In my opinion, I think she's spot on, and I love how she told Jaune he shouldn't crash into lamp posts. Don't worry about being slow, just enjoy the game!

Agreed. Tbh, I was afraid Nora would be that unendurable level of kook that made you want to die. But she's just lighthearted and frothy, which is fantastic.

Indeed. Lots of Nora's kick it up to 11 when 10 would be just fine. It's like cooking - putting a lot of salt in something does not make it better.

I really, really enjoy the way you play Ruby. She's got the cute factor but in a way that isn't cloying or obnoxious. She reacts to things pretty realistically, which I also appreciate, and I love that you aren't afraid to occasionally make her say something stupid. XD Wily is also flipping fantastic. He says 'simpleton' which is one of my top five all-time favorite words, so bonus points for that. He's just such a delight to watch, because he gets people so fired up, and responds so hilariously to other villains. Please keep up the good work!

I'm always after Concrit for all of my pups, but I am especially after feedback on Marcy because she's not one I managed to play much before I ended up on RP hiatus for about a year, so I really have no clue how I am doing with her ^^;; Especially when she has such a good castmate in.

I haven't seen Dogma or Adventure Time, so the only character I know reasonably well is Dean, and I'm not up to date on season eight and beyond just yet! But I do know that you're an awesome player because you aren't afraid to get involved or RP with people outside of cast. It's very easy to RP with you, and I love that. I also like knowing I can trust you not to godmode with powerful characters. Brofist for that!

Yeah. my inbox is crying but I do try to get involved as much as I can, and I'm glad it comes across in a good way rather than the annoying GIVE ME ALL YOUR ATTENTION YOU HAVE TO RP WITH ME way. That line can be thin and hidden, and it's a plus to know I'm on the correct side of it XD
