1. All votes should be who YOU would vote for. Use only one journal for this, not multiple character journals. Voting is done OOCly by player, not characters! If you have any questions, reply to this post and a mod will get back to you as soon as possible. Otherwise, click on the cut to vote. The poll will close at 11:59pm PST on June 22nd. The official IC announcement will be made on the 23rd.
2. Voting results will only be seen by me, so please vote honestly for which character you'd like to see in that position.
3. As far as IC voting goes, characters are still voting technically -- the voting booths include NPC voting as well as pendant-holders, so if a character would ICly be unlikely to win but OOCly would be the most interesting or fun to see with such a job (such as a villain character), victory can be assumed as due to things like cheating, a very strongly devoted public interest group, brainwashing some of the populace to vote a certain way, etc.

1. While the instructions here are OOC and the post is in the OOC comm, each vote should be considered a vote cast by your character, not you the player. City Guardian candidates are permitted to vote and may vote for themselves.
2. You cannot use any information that your character does not know in the game to influence the vote. The first day of voting, ICly, every character will receive a copy of a candidate profiles newsletter. Additionally, the debates were on as live television (not a network post) with open attendance if your character wanted to go in person. Characters can also use posts the characters made on the network and newspaper articles at any time to inform their decision.
3. Each character gets one vote for each city, not just the city they reside in.
4. Voting is via secret ballot ICly through a character's device. Characters will have submitted their vote via a notification that popped up on their devices that it was time to vote. Because the voting is done through the devices which check both DNA and memory sets to even work (read the FAQ if you don't know what this is about), no hacking.
5. Your character is not required to vote, but for the duration of the polling period they will have notifications basically 'harassing' them to vote every 5 minutes. It's far worse than a Windows update restart notification.
6. Any characters who have not shown activity during the election period beyond declaring that they are running or have dropped have been removed from the poll.

AIM and Discord have been given their own separate categories given that they're the most popularly provided option that was previously in "Other" so it should be easier to see them now.
That said, you're probably like "Well you already did everything already, what the hell are you going to poll us for?" Well, that has to do with Discord.

Thank you so much and please feel free to let us know if you have any questions, as always.
Additionally, we would like to make note of a recent change to Genessia's rules. It is not anything new or unusual, it is just stated outright due to multiple incidences over the past year. The following passage has been added right at the top:
Respect. Genessia as a game is intended to be a fun place for people to play. It is not intended as a place for people to feel disrespected, oppressed, or otherwise discriminated against. Please treat all players with respect and please conduct yourself respectfully toward all individuals and groups. Usage of any derogatory language or behavior will result in a warning with an explanation of the behavior and why it's unacceptable. (We do understand that some people just haven't realized that something is offensive on occasion.) A secondary offense will result in removal from the game.As usual, if you notice a recent rule violation and would like to report it to the moderators, feel free to send us a private message on the moderator account (

We've had a few things brought up to us during the course of this last City Guardian election season. There are a few decisions that the moderators have decided to set in motion going forward as well as a few issues we'd like to see what the majority of the community has to say about.

P.S. Look forward to more information about what happens when the Bay returns to its normal spot sometime in the next couple of days! Until then, don't forget to check in and enjoy the event!
You'll start seeing some of those changes in the upcoming days, along with the elimination of the Application and Reserves pages that were sort of just hanging out and the addition of a "How to Get Started" page that will have brief instructions for new characters and players. Since we don't have applications here like a number of games, there's no little blurb to help everyone figure out what step two is after commenting the taken list, so that's basically what the page is going to be. A helpful little instruction guide!
The last thing would be the part that the poll is about. It's a change to one of the rules that I think is reasonable, but I wanted to check with all of you first because while it is slight, it may have an affect on how some people play. As I can't possibly stalk every thread in the game, I'm not sure how much it will matter, but that's why I wanted to check with everyone first!
- Current Rule: Once an archway is opened, it stays open no matter what. The price was paid, that's that.
Proposed Rule: As long as the price was once paid, the archway will remain open as long as there is someone from the world still present in the game. If it is not, the archway will disappear until someone from the canon returns to the game. It will reopen upon re-establishing a connection to that world.
*Real-world places like modern Tokyo, Paris, etc. will stay unless they are a very specific version of it (Like Tokyo from the year 5031 opened by a sci-fi character, for example) as there are usually multiple characters who would normally have access to cities like that in their world.
Why this change? If there is no one from the world in the game, then we don't know exactly what information is there without extensive research and it also seems a little odd to have characters going into worlds that we don't have ready access information about and it can be awkward for people coming in to see "Hey there's no one playing the Ice King right now so why.. is his palace there...?" The new proposed rule will also make it easier to keep track of the world so that it doesn't get out of hand, but still make it so that characters coming in do not have to pay a repeated price. From an IC standpoint, it would simply be that Genessia needs a connection to the world to establish a subarchway.
Would you be alright with this update to the game?
Yes- It makes sense and sounds good!

The poll will be open until Monday, January 12th at 11:59PM EST. Please make sure to get your vote in before then! If you have any questions, ask them here. Thank you!
However, this is my personal concern: if the character limit is raised or eliminated, people have a tendency to play nothing but reactionary protagonists, and that can quickly choke a game by making it super slice-of-life, and promoting dependency on the mods alone to provide any sort of conflict. I can tell you right now I would not be able to keep up conflict plots and events for a big swarm of good guys without getting burned out very quickly!
As such, one of the options (the one I'm heavily favoring for that matter) is that if you want to play more than eight characters, at least 25% of them should be active antagonists providing conflict for the masses. Genessia's setting does favor villains, especially with characters like Moriarty wanting to lend a hand to give bad guys access to home worlds and henchmen. The mods are also very willing to work with you if your antagonizer needs some help setting up plots and situations.
Nonetheless, this is a game I want to share with my friends (even though ruling with an iron fist is a heap of fun), so please cast your vote as to what you'd prefer.
The second poll question concerns June's event. Yes, yes, May's event is still in full swing, and this may be premature, but you've got a lazy mod who wanted to post all the polls at once. S'how it goes.
Notice that there are no options for 'do not care'. If you don't care, don't vote! That's totally fine!

Secondly, here's a head's up that there will be a metaplot event taking place around the middle of the month. We're not telling what it is, because we're obnoxious like that.
Finally, for an additional monthly event outside of player plots and metaplot, here's a poll so you can choose what happens next. We selected five ideas at random from our not-so-secret list, mostly contributed by Yasmine who is amazing. Poll runs through December 31st. It's short, but EH! The event will likely run early in the month, as one of the mods will be unavailble at the end of the month for close to two weeks.
1. Master/Slave - get your mind out of the gutter, you kinky bastard. >3 One of the randomly put together has to do as the other says. Can be unhappy about it, but will be unable to refuse. The other is the 'master'. They can abuse their power or not.... once they realise what's going on. There's no indication prior to the event to tell the muses who will be obeying who, just to add to their confusion. (and I don't mean 'Let's not tell the muns 8D', just to clear that up. Just that there'll be no IC announcement.)
2. Projection - An object of your subconscious joins you out in the real world. Have fun with that.
3. Snowman Building Contest - Charm event! Who can build the best snowman? The most creative? The best submissions will win a nice prize.
4. Age Shift - Kids are adults, adults are kids, grandparentslike Harryare young and spry.
5. Fairy Tale Takeover - Characters either become fairy tale creatures, or assume the roles of famous fairy tale characters. Stay out of mushroom rings!
