Chicklet here, with another question. I was wondering what the rules were/what would happen if I wanted to bring in a sentient PLACE? It is a character I always wanted to play somewhere, but was afraid that in an AC game, I'd be stuck if no one went there, since it is a location and cannot move independently.

I basically want to play Castle Heterodyne from Girl Genius which controls itself, the mountain it is on, and the whole of the town that lay before it. The Castle is sentient, and somewhat insane. More than a little bloodthirsty, and takes delight in being a deathtrap. It is proud of its status as a monstrosity, and I think it would be a lot of fun to play. Is that possible? If so... how would it work?

Hello! While it sounds like a very fun idea, given the nature of the game it wouldn't end up working out. All new characters have to come through the Bay and a whole castle wouldn't be movable from there, unfortunately. Sorry about that!

So I'm not going to come up with excuses and there's no two ways about it: The canon Chifusa here comes from, Manyuu Hikenchou, is pretty adult. tl;dr It's a feudal era series where tits = status and while the anime adaptation is very ecchi, it's not a series like, say, Bible Black or Taimanin Asagi and the sex/nudity aspect can be largely ignored. The manga is only 4 chapters in but does a decent job of not going overboard with it but it's still an adult series with a very kooky premise.

I wanted to obviously check with you guys first and see if it would be acceptable, with any threads that involve Chifusa's special ability (namely the ability to "steal" another character's breasts and add them to her own tit size, much to her chagrin) either being warned for/behind a cut OR having that ability entirely ignored because if you ignore the premise of the series and that ability, Chifusa is just a Hobo Kenshin-type character that goes around feudal Japan doing Robin Hood-like activities.

Tried to tl;dr this but I failed, sorry!!! Just checking in to see if she could be played. Not wanting to break rules or step on toes. o/

Question

So I had a question in regards to something that is canon for Lydia and what I would need to do in order to do something similar (with mod guidelines and the like and to make it friendly for other players).

In The Adventure Zone canon Lydia ran a little place called Wonderland along with her brother, but given her brother isn't here, I would assume this would already be on a MUCH smaller scale simply due to that fact.

Wonderland itself was just a building that the inside was changed using illusion magic and was really just a ploy for the two to collect suffering from people, which more or less fueled their abilities (they can use other emotions, suffering is just the best for them). It involved things such as battles against monsters, pitting people against each other, penalty games, things of that nature. And I figured most, if not all, of this would probably be a no-go.

But just some ridiculous nonsense in there would be interesting to play with since canon also showed them running some ridiculous game show crap for funsies, too. So that's why I ask about limitations and also, in a way, about how the suffering thing would work for her since it basically powers her and keeps her sane since liches are fun like that.

That would be totally fine here as long as they have the magic to recreate it on a smaller scale. The only thing to note would be that you would need to ask permission and plot with anyone who went in there every time it's used. Because of the nature of the building, we'd also prefer if you had an info post available for players. Since it's not strictly a business, you would just need to add it to the settings page.

My current account for Maribelle seems to have broken down, I can't get any notifications whatsoever. Rather than dropping Maribelle altogether as I was considering doing since I haven't been able to tag for weeks, would it be possible for me to switch accounts? I've made an alternative account for her grizzly_teatime but she'd of course have to be accepted into the community for me to be able to post.

PS:

Maribelle is a noblewoman in Ylisse, would it be possible for her to go through the gate to Ylisse that Robin has opened up and retrieve a large amount of gold that she could exchange for money? She's planning on working a deputy guardian for free, so she'll want to have some manner of money to live off of. Granted she's also planning to be a lawyer among other things, but she accustomed to a certain upscale sort of lifestyle.

Yes, she can do that to cover non-essential payments. (So clothing, food, etc. that doesn't require a payment level in game.) However, housing requires a job of some kind (steady income stream) in order to avoid ooc complications.

Employment Q

Hi! Sorry if this is written somewhere - I tried to look but I didn't find any specific info that I was looking for.

So I recently brought Ned into the game. I was looking at employment opportunities. After looking through the whole spreadsheet and trying to figure out what Ned would probably go for IG, I thought he might try to pursue something at one Attleton University. But, since there were no OPEN POSITION slots, I didn't know if I could try to request that position for him on the Employment page, or if it's over-stepping anything by requesting such a high position.

The reason I figured he'd go for that (probably in Ethics or History - or some kind of combo) is that he's a high-born Lord who'd also spent time as the Hand of the King back in Westeros. He's received a high-born's education, was a ward under Jon Arryn (Lord of the Eyrie) for much of his life, and ruled over Winterfell using his strong sense of morality and judgment. He tried to do the same as Hand, though .. well, we saw how that worked out. It doesn't do well to be morally righteous if the rest of the people aren't.

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Go for it! Unless players specifically list positions for their own businesses, we try to limit what's on the spreadsheet as much as we can to save space. (I'm sure you've noticed, it's a huge spreadsheet.) So if ever you have something you want to go for, just feel free to drop it on the employment page and unless there's some in-game reason that it can't be done (a mod will notify you ASAP) you're good to go with pretty much anything.

So Namur is spending quite a bit of time at the bottom of the deep ocean lately. Is there anything noteworthy out there he might find? I mean he's probably looking for sunken ships that might be loaded with treasure (or like... rum), but you know, sea caves, giant monstrous beasts of some sort, those kinds of things are all potentials. I'm just not sure what's even in the oceans for him to find, so that's why I ask.

Hello! Sorry about the delay. The mods have actually been working on a Search Request project but have run into a couple of issues causing delys. In the meantime, we don't want to leave you hanging so here's a special adventure just for Namur's underwater adventure!

It takes almost the entire day before he finds anything unusual, but just as it almost seems that he's about to give up, he will notice a strangely shaped rock formation. Rather than something connected to the sea floor, it is a gigantic conical boulder on its side, easily the size of a large castle. Weathered and covered in moss that doesn't look like it belongs beneath the ocean, if Namur explores along the expansive length of the stone, he'll find a more platform-esque side. For nearly a mile going out from the platform, he'll find a significant amount of debris. Most of it appears to be simple household items- pots and pans, bedding, books so soaked whatever ink was on the pages is no longer properly affixed to the page, even the a few toys that look like they were from small children like teddy bears or dolls. There are a number of materials that appear as though they might hav been buildings that fell sideways. On the platform side, there are large monolithic stones that appear to have been formed into a circular, gear-like structure flat in the center of the platform. Within the structure, nine gem stones are visible, eight surrounding a large one the size of a human head. The large center stone, orange in color, contains a significantly sized crack, chunks of the center of the gem clearly missing.

Perhaps the most concerning thing that Namur might note is that it doesn't look like this has been here long. The debris is not yet covered in sand, the metals have not yet rusted, and while the base is weathered and the structures mostly broken, the materials have clearly not been beneath the water for long. Even living ocean creatures haven't seemed to move in yet, save for a few adventurous fish investigating the wreck. It simply looks like it fell to its side at the bottom of the sea.

In Summary:
They would be taking song requests during the day, then do a live show in the late afternoon/evening (when it's dark enough for glowsticks, but not so dark it's dangerous.)

CRAU question

The FAQ says that abilities gained in another game that are not canon-based can't be transferred. This I understand. However, I have a Sam Winchester (Supernatural) who was dying and turned into a vampire (The Vampire Diaries style). The player & character who turned him and I would like to bring them into this game with Sam still a vampire. Would that be allowed or would that constitute abilities gained?

Housing/Business questions

Regina would like to acquire Witch's Island to use both as housing for her extended family and to open a business.

She would like to use the castle, its grounds and the island its on as an event destination, ie. weddings, parties, small concerts could be held in the rose garden; a small, elegant carriage house could serve as a honeymoon getaway or an overnight stay for bridge & groom during a wedding, or celebrities in need of a break; the rose gardens and castle grounds would be open for tours; Evie Grimhilde would have a branch of the clothing shop she'll be opening on the grounds; Maddie Hatter will have a tea shop and run afternoon teas; and so on. In addition, she'd be hiring staff to help run the castle, protect the guests (and the family from the guests in consideration of future plotting), transport from Fayren to the island.

A few questions:

1) Is it possible to combine business and housing in this way?
2) If so, can the **** for a new business be applied to the income requirement?
3) If not 2, can the stars budgeted to acquiring a location for a new business be deducted from the cost of the Witch's Island?
4) If not 2 or 3, is there a way to obtain a business loan in Genessia? :D

Sorry to plague already busy mods with these questions. Regina *really* wants this castle and the rest of the family/cast is excited about the idea. Plus with Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto coming in to try to claim Fayren, having a castle as a siege location/base could be a lot of fun.

Hello! Any housing options must meet the minimum * requirement before purchasing the house, not after/simultaneously. This means that unless your characters can collectively make the *level for the minimum purchase of the castle, you will not be able to do it. However, if the housing is purchased and you open or transfer a business location after the fact, that is fine.

Hello! I'm trying to figure out housing and employment and when I tried to click the link for "recommendations" regarding jobs it took me to a locked post I couldn't view, SO I CAME OVER HERE.

Tomoe was taken to the Amagi in shortly after her arrival and I was hoping to get her a job there but I don't see anything for the location listed in the employment document. The contact character/player isn't in the contact sheet and through conversation it sounds like she dropped?

In any case, Tomoe was actually a server and a maid for a while in the manga, so it seems apt for her to inquire about working there in exchange for the shelter (at least until I get a better idea or something else lands in her lap). Please let me know!
