Mod Post
To keep everyone in the loop, here's a mod announcement regarding the state of the game, the state of the mods, and upcoming events.
As you've likely seen, Judge has stepped down as a mod. If you're unaware of the events surrounding this, you're welcome to look into the matter on your own, but we're not going to provide links to any prominent wank sites or the Plurk that was being circulated yesterday by one of the former players. Out of respect for that former player, who never intended for his comments to get replurked and made into a public forum, we ask that players do not further contribute any inflammatory remarks or drama-mongering, no matter which side of the matter you fall on.
I want to make it very clear that we do not support hate speech of any kind. Policing what people say outside of the comms and moderated forums like Discord is an extremely tricky subject. On the one hand, people are free to say what they wish on these sites. On the other hand, because these sites are often linked to a game contact page and used between players to keep in contact and plot game-related things, no one can truly say that Plurks, tweets, Facebook, and other such sites are not linked to RP. Be mindful of your words and the impact they have on the people who read them. We cannot punish anyone for their own personal conduct outside of the game except in very extreme circumstances (stalking, harassment, etc.). We can advise you to be more empathetic with regard to the people you've got on your friend list, because not all of them are going to hold the exact same beliefs and values that you do. We can advise you to avoid making public posts about hot topics like politics and religion -- these things should have no bearing on RP. We can advise you to use cliques, locks, and cuts if you want to discuss controversial subjects with other like-minded people.
We're not going to tell you what you can and can't talk about on your own social media accounts. Everyone should feel like they have a space to express themselves freely. Even so, be smart about it, and don't be a dick.
Mags has regretfully decided to resign from modship and the game. We thank her for all of her hard work and dedication to keeping the game (and my own sanity!) afloat during the last few months. I'll be handling the list duties for the time being.
Based on the feedback everyone gave (thank you!), we're going with Proposal #2: Keep Phase II on standby for now, and begin streamlining the game to accommodate a smaller playerbase. I'm currently working on creating a poll where people can vote on what they'd like in regard to things like whittling down the setting choices, AC, guardians and government officials, apps, character caps, etc. It'll be posted once it's ready. I'm also working on a timeline to gradually unveil more metaplot-related things, which will include the Doom Train ending post. I'm sorry for the delay on that, it's a mix of RL and figuring out where the game is going to be headed that's led to multiple re-writes, which I'm still not satisfied with just yet. I had initially planned for an additional bonus to charms being that it would unlock a town that temporarily grants a visitor intangibility, but I think it would be more satisfying for players to find another clue to the setting's mystery. (So I just have to figure out what that is and how to incorporate it in a natural and interesting way. I appreciate your patience!)
In the meantime, we're working on rolling out more metaplot elements through future game-wide events that should be a lot of fun. It's just a matter of writing up an actual outline and then fitting it to the calendar (which you should keep an eye on, and check out!). October isn't going to be bereft of things to do! There will be a traditional spooky week-long Halloween event at the end of the month (details to come soon), followed by a harvest party in Windgate Creek with a surprise at the end. Speaking of events...
Yes! Event Mod! We've been talking with Tori for close to a week now, who has offered to help out with managing events. Not only does this include making event posts and handling some of the NPC duties, she's also willing to help players out in running their own events. She's also offered to run events for players who have RP wishes but don't feel up to running an event personally. We really appreciate her positive, upbeat "can do!" attitude, and if you've seen any of her previous event posts, you know she's got way more talent than I do at making gorgeous and eye-catching event write-ups. Please give her a warm welcome and lend her your support.

Where is the game going?
