July 2019 Charm Quest Results
July Nova City Charm Quest Event: Results!

After running the numbers, it's time to announce the final results of the 2019 Pokemon event!
The following people have won a Nova City charm:
Pokemon Hoarder
The person with the most Pokemon is... Ted Satchel who caught a whopping 113 Pokemon! Good job Ted! In fact, Ted was absolutely the Pokemon Master of this event, placing #1 in every category. However, since there can be only one charm awarded per character, this is his scoring category as per the player's choice.
Supreme Specimen
There was a tie in this one, as no one caught a shiny Legendary, and quite a few managed to catch Legendaries and bumped them up to the maximum Level of 100. So the winners are...47, Dove Eden, Koishi Komeiji, Sakuya Izayoi, and Satori Komeiji! Honorable mention goes to Ted Satchel who also tied, but already won a charm in a different category.
Rare Collector
The person who managed to find and capture the most rare Pokemon is...Papyrus, who found 28 Pokemon that were ranked Rare, Ultra Rare, or Legendary. Too bad he wants to get rid of half of them, but rare collectors should seek him out for some post-event trades! Honorable mention goes to Ted Satchel who found 39, but already won in a different category.
Competent Completionist
For the person who was responsible for the most new entries in the Pokedex, the award goes to...Roland Crane, who had 29 new entries! Honorable mention goes to Ted Satchel (with 64 entries) and Papyrus (33 entries), who won in a different category; and to Kimberly Hart (39 entries) but it would be tacky for a mod to win a charm in an event she hosted. TOO BAD KIM HA HA HA!
Good Sport Awards
What's this?! A secret sixth category? Heavens to Betsy! Some players went above and beyond what was expected of them when participating in this event, such as sacrificing mechanics for the sake of remaining faithfully IC to their character's personality and goals. They also just made things fun and pleasant for the mods by playing along and enjoying the tomfoolery. The winners of this category are... Satou Kuroneko, Gale Reinhardt, and Baldur! Honorable mention goes to Dove Eden for weathering the Wingull From Hell.
Leader of the Pack
The person who racked up the most total points (subtracting the points spent on items and lottery tickets) is...Kieran with a winning score of 11,021 points! Honorable mention goes to Ted Satchel (16,556), Papyrus (12,024), Sakuya Izayoi (11,605), and Satori Komeiji (11,063) who technically ranked higher but already won a charm in a different category.
Congratulations to all of our charm winners! But in the end, no one goes home empty-handed (unless they really want to). Each participating character can choose up to six Pokemon to keep with them (that includes any Pokemon they might have won from earlier events for a maximum of six Pokemon total). As for all the rest? What happens to them?
I'm so glad I asked! Because everyone pitched in to meet the goal of catching more than half of the PokeDex...
Included in the newspaper is a neon orange flyer, announcing the opening of The Safari Zone in Nova City! Characters can hop on board the monorail and take a ride past the city limits to where acres of simulated forest, marshes, plains, mountains, lakes, and ocean is now home to all of the Pokemon encountered in the event (save for the legendary Pokemon, who are only available to those who found and caught them). This includes Pokemon that were released in other events, and those who found themselves without an owner when a character dropped from the game. If your character re-apped and lost all of their Pokemon, they just might see a familiar and friendly face in the Safari Zone.
Upon disembarking from the train, characters will find themselves smack dab in Pokemon tourist central! There are shops offering fossils, evolution items, toys, and accessories. There are Pokemon-centric spas and beauty parlors, a trading post with a bulletin board and swap machine, Pokemon cafes, and of course, a Pokemon Center where trainers can rest while their Pokemon are restored to full health.
The Safari Zone itself is at the end of the road of shops, where enormous wooden doors swing open to admit visitors. Just inside the gate is a kiosk with a helpful attendant, who offers visitors a cute souvenir safari hat that somehow perfectly fits. Characters can pay a fee to receive up to six Pokeballs per day. They won't need to battle Pokemon to catch them, but some Pokemon may refuse to be caught unless sufficiently challenged (i.e. it's up to you as a player how you want to handle it). All base-form non-legendary Pokemon can be found here, including starters, so if someone really wants to spend time increasing their Pokemon collection, they certainly may! Characters can also access the data pad to find out where their other Pokemon are roaming about, and either exchange one of their team members via teleporter, drop off members of their team, or collect their old teammates with no more than six on their person at any given time.
The Safari Zone closes at dusk and opens at sunrise.
Questions? Comments? Post them here! Special thanks go to Mags and Judge who were a tremendous help in making this event really sparkle. If you enjoyed reading your quest results, most likely Judge is the one responsible for the humor and wit.

I dont think it's fair to make the safari zone that mandatory. Koishi has been keeping all her pokemon (like a dozen or so) in chireiden for years now and that's kinda a roleplay thing. They help out and are a part of the family. Forcing all pokemon to be kept away from home I dont feel is fair to people who have the space to keep and care for them.
Additionally carry restrictions I feel are unnessisary. I understand that battle restrictions need to be mandatory but there aren't many reasons to carry more than 6 unless it's for roleplay purposes. I was planning on throwing a big picnic with all of koishi's new friends in the Bay park. A public place like that is perfect for new CR.
Overall the safari zone is a fantastic option for those who need it. Im not saying it's not. But making it so mandatory I feel is much too strict.

Secondly, Genessia is not primarily a Pokemon game. Pokemon are fun for an annual event, and used to a degree they can certainly enhance roleplay, but should not dominate the focus of the game. No one needs a mass horde of Pokemon in order to RP their character effectively with others, and it's as ICly time-consuming as holding a full-time job, but without pay, to care for and maintain an excess of Pokemon in one's household.
Thirdly, it should also be pointed out that this event has been far more permissive in allowing characters to keep a huge number of Pokemon, compared to prior events where it was limited to 1-3. If a character really wants to hang out with multiple members of their Pokemon, they can swap out easily at any time. The only restriction is how many can be gathered in one spot (outside the Safari Zone) at a time, and six is a perfectly reasonable number.
There are some suggestions I can offer that might help you carry out what you'd like to do. If a character is particularly attached to Pokemon and wants to hang around them for extended periods of time, I would suggest that they take up a job working in the Safari Zone or even apply to move into a little cabin in the area (hell, if there's enough player interest, I'd be happy to open up some bungalow style housing in the Safari Zone for characters to live), where they can gather with all of their Pokemon, have picnics, parties, and other Pokemon-themed events outside of the main narrative. All you'd have to do is change the location, and the picnic party is absolutely feasible.

Yes in the games you're limited to 6 if you're an active trainer but there are also plenty of npcs in the game and characters in the anime who have more than 6 for non battle purposes.
I can move the picnic. Really this is the lesser of the two points
I feel like I'm throwing out a lot of CR by being forced to move existing pokemon out of chireiden. I can accept only being able to keep 6 of the new ones but it really hurts what I've established both on and off coms about chireiden in this world. Its suddenly losing the friends and helpers that help keep the garden so lush.
I'm not even entirely certain how many characters have pokemon from previous events still in game. Can an exception be made? One of them (ivysaur) isn't even from an event. It was a gift from another player and was received a good few months before koishi's first event.
I also feel like the gun is getting jumped a little bit. Most people ignore the pokemon but some people want to use them to create opportunity. And that's why I love genessia. Because I'm free to create opportunities like that.
I totally get the fear that you dont want it to become a pet game and if it gets abused then the pokemon absolutely need to be regulated and I doubt anyone would complain. But I do feel this is a bit overly restrictive.

If you would prefer to apply last year's rules to this year, we can make that exception. She can keep her previous year's kept Pokemon, and discard all but three of this year's Pokemon. Discarded Pokemon will not be available in the Safari Zone.

I understand your concern. Would you consider loosening the restrictions later? Like keep the carry restriction but let people keep some at home?
And I'll have to think about discarding once I've gotten some sleep.
