EVENT: The Reign of the Ice Queen

Area Affected: Fayren
Event Dates: Begins January 14th - Ends January 31st (possibly sooner depending on character actions)

Beginning on January 14th, Fayren will experience true winter as an ice storm sweeps throughout the realm. The snow will be thick and unending, as not even the hottest fires will be able to melt it. Ice will coat the trees and hang from branches.

Also, the castle and all of its residents will be completely frozen solid. They're not the only ones either -- anyone who does not swear to serve AND love the reigning Ice Queen will have their homes, businesses, and families frozen solid. (Don't worry; they'll still be alive by the end of the event, but it'll be a strong enchantment that can't be easily broken.)

Giant polar bears, ice trolls, and rime fae will be openly patrolling the streets and guarding the archway against trespassers. There's even a snow goliath guarding the castle itself.

Though the identity of the Ice Queen won't be immediately known ICly, here are the OOC details.

1. Winter Schnee is the Ice Queen.

2. The cause of her sudden shift in demeanor is a secret, but some characters may be able to figure it out. The clues are subtle, but they're there. It will likely become public IC knowledge after a certain point.

3. She's looking to collect a new family to replace the one she's become convinced does not truly care for her. Characters can sign up to become either prisoners OR have their hearts frozen to serve as a family member, or one of her guardians/soldiers/servants. Others may also sign up to become frozen statues, but be forewarned that this will put your character out of commission until the spell is broken and the event is at an end.

4. This event is confined ONLY to Fayren. Characters can still sneak in, lay low, conduct espionage, etc. within Fayren unless you're OOCly fine with having them be caught and/or enchanted.

5. No killing Winter or anyone else involved in the plot without express permission from the players. (And she's not going to die in this event.)

6. There are a couple of different ways to solve the event. Depending on how much information is uncovered, you might get all of the possibilities worked out!

7. We're trying to keep this event from being too dark and gruesome, so try to avoid slaughtering NPCs en masse, ultra violent deaths, etc. I'd still like to have Winter be able to live with herself after everything is said and done, and that'll be difficult if she winds up being responsible for the deaths of hundreds.

I'll include two threads below: one for plotting, and one for role sign-ups if you want to be on the Ice Queen's side at some point. I'm excited to get this started, and I think everyone involved should have a lot of fun with it!

Cassian will be doing his part as Guardian of Attleton offering help where it's wanted and needed by the Fayren colleagues.

And of course that will end as well as pen will expect sooooo....he will make an interesting looking statue.

Koishi is willing to help people who are sneaking around remain hidden since she'll be moving around fairly freely. Her ability to go unnoticed will help immensely. She wont really offer any help beyond the infiltration and she may or may not get distracted halfway through and strand people in bad situations...

Ted's down for general good guy stuff. Fighting, sneaking, etc. He's very good at not killing so that should keep the gravity down. Genessia's not so bad that it deserves more Schnee malfeasance. Plus, think of the irony! He might have just found a girl worth hitting. The guy who didn't even wanna be a castle guard might save it anyway. Le drama!

I would love to get Cloud involved! His crystal ties him to Fayren a little even if he resides in Genessia.

Depending on how the plot progresses, Cloud could either be someone who lends his strength to a party that mounts an assault/rescue mission when more is revealed about Winter and her subjects.

Maybe even being part of a group that creates a path for another group to reach the castle and reach Winter. Either way! You'll definitely want Cloud on your side if you're tackling all these snow beasties.

If there’s a call for volunteers to attack the castle/defend people, Imperius is down to respond to the LFG message offering heals - he won’t be too choosy about the PUG he joins either. (just let him roll for any healer gear that drops plz)

As a deputy guardian (re-appointed by Mavis), it would be Alice's job to protect Fayren's borders and investigate and resolve incidents such as this.

Usually in absurdly colorful bullet hell patterns.

And dolls. Lots and lots of dolls. Invincible Doll Legion. \o/

Alice would definitely be an interesting addition to have, if we're talking a snow legion versus a doll legion.

Qubine will definitely get involved, as one of the deputies, and being an Ice dragon gives him quite the resistance against ice. He'll be glad to take out as many of the trolls, polar bears, etc., since fighting beasts is what he's accustomed to. He may not be able to sneak into the castle, but lemme know if you want his help dealing with the snow goliath.

And when it's found out that Winter is behind all this, he'll be like, "She would pull a stunt like this, wouldn't she?"

As if he needed more reasons to despise her...

Spock is I think going to be the one to discover that Winter isn't Winter? He'll share this with anyone he can so that they can devise a way to stop her. (I'm not sure if he'll have access to his device during this so it may or may not have to be in person). But it's still her body so if anyone tries to harm her to end this whole thing he'll step in unless no other solution can be found, in which case, sorry babe.

Also as an fyi he won't even be abducted until the 15th or 16th since I'll be hiatused while I'm on vacation.

Setsuna isn't one to let tyranny like this go through. She's dealt with world-ending stuff before, what's one megalomaniacal ice queen?

For anyone wanting to group up, she does specialize in extermination of monsters/spirits/etc. while being a skilled swordswoman, so she'd be good at fighting and storming the castle.

Just don't expect her to win against Winter after that if she ends up fighting all the way to the Queen. SHe's good, but she isn't Negi.

She can also do the stealth route, and damn I didn't mean for this to be so long.

Moon Knight thrives on being a Very Visible Target™, so he's down for fighting on the castle grounds/perimeter while a smaller force sneaks in or something like that.

Not entirely sure where Anakin would be with all of this going on, but he tends to get drawn to trouble. Meaning this Jedi might very well sneak into the city to have a look around. It's just the thing he does, I assume?

In case a fight comes to be... Yeah. He'll be there.

Sync is down for some espionage and general destruction. Plus he's willing to prove how hard he is to spot wearing black in a white setting because ow the edge.

So feel free to tap him for almost anything, though he might get involved with others since this is a good excuse to unwind after the blizzard.

May as well put Arro out too. While he did absolutely nothing helpful during the blizzard, he might make an offer to help here, and accidentally let on that he isn't bothered by the cold, because upsetting people is low-key fun.

Anyway, he would probably agree to be part of the distraction group...unless someone tempts him with learning things. Then he'll probably join the group that tries sneaking in because knowledge.

Winry is going to end up with a frozen heart and being a servant. If castmates figure out where she is... Who knows what they might do so that will be fun.

Fai will probably help out, more so whenever he finds out about Dray becoming a statue because well...friend is frozen and he will not be happy. So if you want him let me know. He's good with various magics and potions.

I mean, "something evil and wicked affecting a lot of people that has to be stopped cleverly and with compassion because the driving force behind it isn't really evil after all and everyone lives at the end" is basically the Doctor's idea of a good day, so he's 100% down for investigating, trying to learn who/what this Ice Queen is, and how to resolve matters peacefully.

Needless to say, when Mavis gets frozen, Zeref's going to react very, very badly. However, due to the nature of his curse, he'll have to control his reaction very strictly.

He would become hell-bent on what caused all of this, and end it, including violently if necessary. If that sounds callous, it is; he can't allow himself to give much thought to Mavis' safety, or else he'll be the one jeopardizing it. But deep down, anyone would be able to see that he's extremely distraught, and worried, even if he will do everything in his power to deny it.

When the time comes for storming the castle, he's in.

I would love it if Tsukasa could call Lucky out to the outskirts for a honor duel if possible. Since Lucky's going to be a soldier, Tsukasa wants to confirm the change of heart, throw a mutual beatdown around and just peace out. If it's a formal request, would it be possible to avoid the whole ice bolt from the blue thing?

Evangeline's usual shtick is butting in to save people she knows when they're totally doomed, wrecking someone with some OP spell she just made up, and then bragging about it for like an hour.

If that's something any of her acquaintances actually want inflicted on them, I guess she's available...?

Time to get more involved in this game. Adela is going to have her heart frozen and be a loyal knight to the queen! I am up for fights of any kind, whether they end in stalemate, one party retreating, or (in the worst case) character injury or death.

The latter is something that needs SIGNIFICANT plotting though and I would rather have that happen closer towards the end of the event, whether it's Adela injuring someone else/ending someone else's life (which would trigger major guilt in her even if she wasn't in control of her own actions) or her taking hits/dying for her queen. Of course, that's if that happens at all.
This is not express permission but willingness to plot with the above as elements, please confirm with me if this is the direction you want to go in and we can talk.

Erza's not going to be too thrilled with her girlfriend being frozen and her beloved guild master acting really strange, so she's going to want to put a stop to this.

Also, with Mavis not quite being herself, Erza might try to take on more of a role as a Deputy Guardian... and be wildly unprepared for it and incredibly nervous/flustered about it, so that could be entertaining.
