EVENT: The Reign of the Ice Queen

Area Affected: Fayren
Event Dates: Begins January 14th - Ends January 31st (possibly sooner depending on character actions)

Beginning on January 14th, Fayren will experience true winter as an ice storm sweeps throughout the realm. The snow will be thick and unending, as not even the hottest fires will be able to melt it. Ice will coat the trees and hang from branches.

Also, the castle and all of its residents will be completely frozen solid. They're not the only ones either -- anyone who does not swear to serve AND love the reigning Ice Queen will have their homes, businesses, and families frozen solid. (Don't worry; they'll still be alive by the end of the event, but it'll be a strong enchantment that can't be easily broken.)

Giant polar bears, ice trolls, and rime fae will be openly patrolling the streets and guarding the archway against trespassers. There's even a snow goliath guarding the castle itself.

Though the identity of the Ice Queen won't be immediately known ICly, here are the OOC details.

1. Winter Schnee is the Ice Queen.

2. The cause of her sudden shift in demeanor is a secret, but some characters may be able to figure it out. The clues are subtle, but they're there. It will likely become public IC knowledge after a certain point.

3. She's looking to collect a new family to replace the one she's become convinced does not truly care for her. Characters can sign up to become either prisoners OR have their hearts frozen to serve as a family member, or one of her guardians/soldiers/servants. Others may also sign up to become frozen statues, but be forewarned that this will put your character out of commission until the spell is broken and the event is at an end.

4. This event is confined ONLY to Fayren. Characters can still sneak in, lay low, conduct espionage, etc. within Fayren unless you're OOCly fine with having them be caught and/or enchanted.

5. No killing Winter or anyone else involved in the plot without express permission from the players. (And she's not going to die in this event.)

6. There are a couple of different ways to solve the event. Depending on how much information is uncovered, you might get all of the possibilities worked out!

7. We're trying to keep this event from being too dark and gruesome, so try to avoid slaughtering NPCs en masse, ultra violent deaths, etc. I'd still like to have Winter be able to live with herself after everything is said and done, and that'll be difficult if she winds up being responsible for the deaths of hundreds.

I'll include two threads below: one for plotting, and one for role sign-ups if you want to be on the Ice Queen's side at some point. I'm excited to get this started, and I think everyone involved should have a lot of fun with it!

Koishi will be a jester/entertainer as discussed. Her powers over the subconscious basically mean she can influence everyone to find her to be the funniest/most entertaining thing ever.

She'll tell stories and perform Danmaku. Basically magic fireworks in pretty patterns.

The ice queen is welcomed to try and freeze her heart but her nature makes it so it really wont do much.

OKAY lets figure this stuff out!

So first and foremost I'm going to be away the weekend of event on and won't be coming back until Monday, time tbd but probably evening/night because I'm looking at an 11+ hour drive so I'm not sure if I'll be tagging then or not.

Spock is my big player in this, as you know. So I don't know where you want the abduction to take place or how. If you wanted him to be unconscious for a day or something then he's fully available at event on (and that action would be entirely you), otherwise if you want a struggle or a talk or whatever it will have to wait. After that, I'm not sure what her plan is with her husband so let's talk about that! You said she's freeze the hearts of family members but I thought he was going to be aware of stuff or something. If he his then I also need to know if he'll have his device on him or not and what story we're going with Kirk since he can't be off fighting eels for two whole weeks.

Jacques is tricky. I know you said she'd ignore him but since he's trying to be a good daddy he's going to have to show up. I think there was talk of an infiltration with Schnee decoys left behind but I don't know how serious that is. So if it's not, he's still gotta play good daddy Schnee, meaning that he will keep pounding on her door or something so you might want to figure out what you want to do with him in that case. I'm up for whatever. If we are sneaking in, though, he's going to follow Weiss' lead on getting into the place (assuming she'll deal with him) and I don't know what his plan is after that try to win her over with stuffed bears as well

All of my other people (Colette, Garrus, Hughes) I can really do whatever with, make them as involved or uninvolved as you want them to be though if she's looking for the best dad you can't get better than Hughes I'd say Garrus we'd have to talk about more since he's kind of a Guardian so I'd really want to think more on him

I'm totally up for 47 having his heart frozen! Assuming that they get to remember their frozen heart experiences when they get better, it'll teach him a lot about himself (OMG, he had a heart to freeze in the first place? WTF???) once he gets better.

He's got some paternal instincts on him he'll never admit/isn't really aware of, so I could have him try to Dad at Winter during that time, or whatever role you think suits him.

If it's not too late to sign up, maybe an (unintentional) servant, soldier, or knight for this brat? She would have wanted to go to Fayren at some point to check out the forge anyway, though I will warn that she is naturally defiant to overbearing authority so unless her heart is affected significantly she will likely wind up a frozen block for some time during this. If loyal she is protective as heck though, so it would really depend on what kind of brainwashing is happening here (as I'm assuming that's what the 'frozen heart' thing mentioned above is?).

If it is too late, no hard feelings. OOCly I'll be content popcorning from the sidelines.

EDIT: Adding because we haven't really talked OOCly before, Adela above anything else is a Blacksmith's Apprentice (though in truth she's skilled enough to be considered a journeyman as she's kept up her craft) and a skilled swordsmistress, thus why I offered the three above roles. If you want her somewhere else that works too, I'd just love to be involved. :)

Koishi is willing to help people who are sneaking around remain hidden since she'll be moving around fairly freely. Her ability to go unnoticed will help immensely. She wont really offer any help beyond the infiltration and she may or may not get distracted halfway through and strand people in bad situations...

I would love to get Cloud involved! His crystal ties him to Fayren a little even if he resides in Genessia.

Depending on how the plot progresses, Cloud could either be someone who lends his strength to a party that mounts an assault/rescue mission when more is revealed about Winter and her subjects.

Maybe even being part of a group that creates a path for another group to reach the castle and reach Winter. Either way! You'll definitely want Cloud on your side if you're tackling all these snow beasties.

If there’s a call for volunteers to attack the castle/defend people, Imperius is down to respond to the LFG message offering heals - he won’t be too choosy about the PUG he joins either. (just let him roll for any healer gear that drops plz)

As a deputy guardian (re-appointed by Mavis), it would be Alice's job to protect Fayren's borders and investigate and resolve incidents such as this.

Usually in absurdly colorful bullet hell patterns.

And dolls. Lots and lots of dolls. Invincible Doll Legion. \o/

Alice would definitely be an interesting addition to have, if we're talking a snow legion versus a doll legion.

Qubine will definitely get involved, as one of the deputies, and being an Ice dragon gives him quite the resistance against ice. He'll be glad to take out as many of the trolls, polar bears, etc., since fighting beasts is what he's accustomed to. He may not be able to sneak into the castle, but lemme know if you want his help dealing with the snow goliath.

And when it's found out that Winter is behind all this, he'll be like, "She would pull a stunt like this, wouldn't she?"

As if he needed more reasons to despise her...

Spock is I think going to be the one to discover that Winter isn't Winter? He'll share this with anyone he can so that they can devise a way to stop her. (I'm not sure if he'll have access to his device during this so it may or may not have to be in person). But it's still her body so if anyone tries to harm her to end this whole thing he'll step in unless no other solution can be found, in which case, sorry babe.

Also as an fyi he won't even be abducted until the 15th or 16th since I'll be hiatused while I'm on vacation.

Setsuna isn't one to let tyranny like this go through. She's dealt with world-ending stuff before, what's one megalomaniacal ice queen?

For anyone wanting to group up, she does specialize in extermination of monsters/spirits/etc. while being a skilled swordswoman, so she'd be good at fighting and storming the castle.

Just don't expect her to win against Winter after that if she ends up fighting all the way to the Queen. SHe's good, but she isn't Negi.

She can also do the stealth route, and damn I didn't mean for this to be so long.
