December Schedule!
Hello everyone,
As many of you may know, the time has come for the City Guardian Elections! These happen every 6 months and anyone can run, regardless of moral alignment. All you have to do is be the most popular in Genessia amongst player characters (as non-player characters are considered to vote in alignment with whatever the player characters vote from a hand-waved standpoint. They're not without say, they just have a tendency to follow the same pattern for simplicity's sake). Here's the schedule:
Guardian Election Declaration Period (Dec. 1-5th)
Guardian Election Debate (Dec. 10th)
Guardian Polling Period (Dec. 18th-24th)
Guardian Election Declarations (Dec. 25th)
*If you ever have an event, let a moderator know ASAP so that we can add it to the schedule and don't schedule another event during it. However, please be aware that election times are set.
So yes, the declaration period starts today and ends on the 5th! A post will go up momentarily for characters to ICly nominate themselves or others. Please be reminded that anyone who is nominated must accept the nomination in order to be considered officially running. All candidates are expected to participate in the debate. Though it is not mandatory, it is the primary way that characters can get their message out and interact with citizens to gain favor and votes.
Please keep in mind that when you vote it should be who you think your character would vote for, not who you think is the right choice. It will be done in a poll in the OOC comm and it is not a log, it is just basically the tallied votes. The debate is set early this month to give people plenty of time to answer and the new (or re-elected) Guardians will be put into office on January 1st.
Also please keep in mind that there are OOC rules about who is eligible to run for election as a City Guardian based on activity. City Guardians are expected to have a regular activity level as detailed in the FAQ and we will be PMing anyone who does not meet these qualifications but tries to run to discuss this. Though the rules/FAQ have always said that anyone who has not met these requirements may be booted from the office at any time, we have not always been strict about this. Given that we are going to try to get back to plot progress soon we will be enforcing this. If you have not been active enough to fit the qualifications in the FAQ, please do not nominate your character.
If you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ, please reply to this post so that a mod may get back to you ASAP. If you have a question, do not reply to the Plurk for this post as that is a conversational area and moderators may not see your question among everyone's Plurk replies.
