January Updates
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS! As a thank you to all of you players, we are going to be giving out a minimum of three 1-month paid accounts. To sign up for the opportunity drawing click here. A maximum of one account per player will be rewarded, it does not matter how many characters you play.
There will be some discussion soon about some rules regarding the guardian elections that players have brought up in this past election in order to make the elections more fair, so please stay tuned for that update once we get the details sorted out. For now, here's what you have to look forward to this month!
MECHANICS CHANGE: DEATH
Hey party people. I heard you guys like plot sometimes. So here we go. As of January 1st, character deaths will no longer dissolve as they previously have. The first character to die as of that date will be picked up by staff members that look like they came out of a Barbie case- far too perfect human beings, dressed in white scrubs lined with red. Each of the individuals doesn't seem to say anything no matter who speaks to them, but does seem to possess a pendant with all colors present in it. Because of the unexpected nature of this sudden change, it will take approximately three days before they appear for the first body so please keep that in mind if you plan on having the next non-drop character death.
If followed or seen, characters will be able to find them being taken to the Bay. A chamber in the Bay floor opens up and they go in. If they are followed, the character will run into a barrier similar to the ones that surround each of the cities. After the initial first death, it will only take about 6 hours for these scrub-clad people to appear and take the body away. They will only appear during the event of deaths, however, so any attempts to make them appear will depend on player decisions as will follow-up plots along this line. Please keep mods informed of anything your characters do out of the ordinary to try to interact with them from here on out, while remembering that they only appear when someone dies. Characters will come back normally in the hospital.
UPDATE: BARRIER STATUS
Because that plot thread requires untangling of a gruesome sort, there's a much more prevalent things that's going to start happening January 5th as well! The barriers appear to be putting out far more energy than they had in the past. Instead of needing to be touched, the barrier field's effects will happen after about five seconds and within 100 feet of the barrier, not just directly at it. The barriers will also seem to have an aurora-esque sheen to them, but no visible damage. During the times when those sheens are present, one might occasionally see the face of a passing empty spirit. It won't notice them much though unless they make noise, at which point it will likely have time to press its face against the barrier to try to get a closer look before the sheen glimmers out and the figure disappears.
EVENT: QUIET MINDS CANNOT BE PERPLEXED OR FRIGHTENED
Something's in the water supply on January 13th! It seems like one of Nova City's scientists went a little off his rocker and decided to dump one of his concoctions into the water main after Aster Technologies denied him further funding for his project, saying that there's no way they would willingly let him test that on human, cyborg, or other subjects. His attempt to test is now resulting in all Nova City residents who drink any water being affected.
A bounty will go out for former doctor Mr. Seek in the 15th's newspaper. This will be a special bounty in which anyone may sign up and the person, pair, or group who gets to encounter will be selected via RNG on the 18th. Mr. Seek will have some information available to those who catch him that will reveal both a remedy and some other information related to another plot, but not this event that may become important down the line. Mr. Seek cannot be NPC’d by players but will be NPC’d by a mod for the bounty log. You cannot bypass a log to complete this bounty regardless of when the last one you did was.
However, I'm sure you all want to know what Mr. Seek's formula does! Why, it separates a person into two. The first of the couple is all of the person's best or most positively aligned attributes, emotions, and moral behaviors-- everything that makes them "good." The second is all of the person's worst or most negatively aligned attributes, emotions, and moral behaviors- the darkest parts of that person. If your character has powers, both parts of them have the same abilities. Each of these personality attributes is amplified in the individual because it is not offset by the good or bad parts of their personality. Keep in mind that it will not cause a character to act outside of who they are in either case- it's just their best and worse possible selves without any way to balance the other side out. If they have bottled up anger and are capable of violence, this might come out in their worst self but if they're asexual they're not going to suddenly start wanting to have sex with everything that moves for example (and sex and sexuality are not considered good or bad either way, but to do with desire which may be influenced by other positive/negative traits like selfishness or patience). However, they might go after something they've desired to possess for a long time in a very negative fashion because their moral compass is off. On the other hand, a character who is normally very ornery might have a positive half that will start indulging in things like hugs if they secretly are the type to desire affection or volunteer for a charity because they really always believed that kids shouldn’t have cancer deep down. Things like that. Ultimately, you can decide how to split up your individual character’s attributes. Have fun, play with it, go wild, explore character polarities!
Feel free to handwave that the remedy will have been created and distributed by January 20th after the bounty RNG so that you may continue your regularly scheduled RP.
Activity Check-In
The Activity Check-In will be up later today, so please be on the look out for it! Please only check in if you are interested in playing. Character squatting is not fair to anyone.

How is the cure distributed and what happens if a character doesn't take it?
no subject
1. The cure is distributed freely in individual doses so the characters must take it themselves. Only one half has to take it to fix the problem so if the good half gets it, the bad half will have to deal with it. (Or if the bad half wants to be fixed, whichever works for your character.) They will be putting small doses into the water that will build up over time to cure so that no one overdoses on the cure, but it won't fix the problem immediately.
2. What happens if a character doesn't take it? Then they stay separated until someone gets them the cure or after some time, the cure will build up in your character's system enough to take effect. If your character doesn't drink public water, then you may need to plot something out to get your character back together again! If you need help, contact a mod.

Though Sakuya's natural hair color was black before it was stress-bleached. Doubt that changes things tho.
