Only one half has to take it to fix the problem so if the good half gets it, the bad half will have to deal with it. (Or if the bad half wants to be fixed, whichever works for your character.) They will be putting small doses into the water that will build up over time to cure so that no one overdoses on the cure, but it won't fix the problem immediately.
2. What happens if a character doesn't take it? Then they stay separated until someone gets them the cure or after some time, the cure will build up in your character's system enough to take effect.
