The infected water doesn't magically teleport either half away, though people are free to assume their character is knocked unconscious due to the reaction or whatever they want-- which could mean that only one character saw their other half, both saw each other, or they accidentally wandered right past each other. However, news will come out about Mr. Seek and his formula eventually so it will become clear during the course of the event.
