Hi everyone!

I'm Magnet and I'll be playing everyone's favorite scheming megacorp CEO: Lex Luthor!

I'm a bit new to this. I've done roleplaying stuff, but mostly more like tabletop stuff and some over irc/IM, so this more forum-ish format is kind of new to me.

I intend to try to play Luthor as actually-smart and good at social manipulation, which is why I'm going with Young Justice Lex instead of DCAU Lex or some other version.


First order of business: Build up a new Lexcorp in this new place. Accumulate wealth and power. Find allies, employees, and assets.

Welcome to DWRP, Magnet! I've never done IRC/IM rp so I can only make guesses to how it differs from here, but here's a guide you can take a gander at that may help you out! It's a little outdated but still useful! (Warning: There is a LOT to take in, but a lot is also common sense.)

As for this game in particular, one habit you'll want to get into right away is marking the threads you have Lex participate in with tags. In said posts you just hit the 'edit tags' button and, the first time, type in 'Lex Luthor'. From that point on you can just scroll down the list and click his name.

There is some stalling a bit on that front; Satsuki is working on a means to maintain their current Goku uniforms since we lack Hoka. She's currently working on an experimental uniform. D:

So the answer is both yes and no. Also Satsuki is current Deputy Guardian (and perhaps soon to be Guardian) of Nova City so rest assured the two will be meeting up. She wouldn't be difficult to convince help him get off the ground she wants ALL THE RESOURCES. and someone willing to help keep Kazuya in check.

Azula, huh? And Sailor Moon... they both might be useful, hehe. I haven't really watched that much of either of their shows, but I've assimilated enough from people who have to have a sort of decent idea of them. Not really familiar with those other 3 characters at all, beyond knowing Temari is some girl from Naruto.

Definitely going to be based in the scifi city, yeah. Still trying to work out a business plan, but I think I can maybe get the new Lexcorp's build-up done mostly "offscreen" using NPC labor. It's not like they have rights, right?

Yes, NPC labor is definitely the way to go. An inexhaustible and endlessly exploitable workforce with no agency to act against myself or other PCs? It's an amoral businessman's dream come true! And no one actually cares about NPCs, do they?

Temari is awesome and strong too... but she's morally neutral. It's okay cause those other three are really obscure canon characters... ish.. XD

And as for NPC labor, go work on that. As far as I know, Nova City is the most expensive city to live in. So the starting money you get can get you settled in there for a month. But I'm sure Lex is very good at multiplying that amount since he's very industrious... and cunning.

Sailor Moon will not be happy if you do something bad to all those people though. u.u

Of course, of course, PR is a concern. It wouldn't look good to treat the employees as actual slaves, even if they really aren't real people. Certain powerful individuals might have a gut emotional reaction to seeing a being that looks like themselves harshly mistreated.

I'm Amy and I play this idiot here (Midboss/Vyers, from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness). I'll probably be bringing in Zelos from Tales of Symphonia once the current event's over who will likely try to double-agent against/for Lex if he gets the chance.

As Justy said, tagging is a good habit to get into so people can keep track of what you're doing, otherwise it might be worth just having a look around at some past threads/logs to get used to the sort of format people use around here.

Yeah, I'm catching up on a bit of lurking to get an idea of how it works before jumping into IC stuff. Hoping to get my first IC post up pretty soon though: maybe later today, or monday at the latest.

I do have a question: if one wants to have an interaction with a specific character, what's the usual way of setting it up OOC? PM them, right? Like I obviously wouldn't want to go straight to making the IC thread and then find out the player isn't interested. Or what if I wanted a thread not necessarily with one specific character, but any one from a particular set (e.g. "someone from a certain series" or "anyone villainous")? In the latter case it might not be as practical to coordinate by PM, so what do?

Let's see, if you want an interaction with a certain character, the best thing is to PM them. There's a (not up to date, sadly) list of all the players and their characters, and how to contact them, that you can get to here: http://genessia-ooc.dreamwidth.org/382.html

If you wanted to plot with 'Villainous People' or, say 'People from Fairy Tail', for instance, best way is to throw up a post in the OOC comm saying "Hey, I'm looking to plot with villains about X, Y, Z" and work it out from there. If it's private, you could always gather them via the OOC comm then set up a group plurk/AIM/e-mail type thing.

Hello. I'm CrypticGirl, and I have Saleh from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (mountain_sage), Karla from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword (this account), and Stefano from Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (sitalion). I hope you have as much fun as we do.

Saleh's a sage capable of wielding nature and light based magic, and also has healing capabilities. He's a bit on the socially awkward side. He feels the need to help those in need, but he's good at reading people's expressions. So he's bound to notice that evil smirk. XD

Karla is a tremendously skilled swordfighter. But unfortunately, that's her only skill. She can be incredibly naïve and ignorant in everything else.

Stefano probably wouldn't be a useful asset at all. All he's good for is entertaining people, and he's even been failing at that lately.

I might have to keep Karla in mind just in case I need something sworded. Trickery is best used on a one-time basis, of course... which makes someone like her, easily fooled and only situationally useful, the perfect target for it >:D
