What you need to know about Mavis: she's the very first (and founding) guildmaster of Fairy Tail, that one guild that blows shit up all the time. She's tiny and looks like a kid. And acts like a kid. And actually we don't know if she is a kid or not. But either way she's also dead and a ghost.
So yes, she'll be haunting the place. Technically.
Her canon point will be post-Grand Magic Games, pre-Zeref-wants-to-kill-humanity.
