Only participating with Weiss for this event for my personal sanity. Emerald will be involved in others' plots. Alice is going to be trying to sue the mayor bc her restaurant can't be open bc you can't serve food without good water god. And Babs is off trying to figure out what to do with herself somewhere else.

NEGATIVE
Bad!Weiss is going to be the Weiss with the anger issues, destructive-level ambition like in vol. 1, refusing to listen to the advice of others, thinks more of herself than others, controlling, the spoiled parts basically where she believes she can get whatever she wants... Especially if you look at season one, Weiss is really similar to her father in some ways. It's the good parts that balance her out and the character development that's made her come so far. She's also really smart which is neither positive nor negative, so both sides are going to be smart, which means negative attributes + being clever (at least when it counts, not with word play) uh... Honestly, I feel like she'd be able to figure out what happened fairly quickly and feel like she doesn't deserve to be stuck in some foster home for school dropouts after the bad guys took her home from her, that she deserves to have SDC and be treated like she's More Than. BC if you look at volume 1, she's clearly had Thoughts. "I may not be perfect, but I'm still leagues better than you." was kind of a telling sign that at least until she learned otherwise and learned things like empathy and teamwork and a load of positive traits yes, she did think she was better. I'm not going to have the racism deal be an issue because that was more or less bred of ignorance and not a personality trait.

So for me I think the important part is to decide what her negative side is going to be doing, because what she has now is because of that aggressive ambition, but put in check by her more positive traits. Which means without all the positive ones to put that in check... Weiss could be a pretty dangerous person, particularly given in-game events that have already made her a little less stable and a lot angrier without being able to really accept criticism.

POSITIVE
Positive!Weiss is tricky because while her negative traits are, well, negative.. a lot of them help to give her outlets for things and are good when informed by her more positive attributes. That aggressive ambition helps her want to do things when it's kept in check and illuminated by what i believe to be the positive side of her ambition, things like a sense of honor and wanting to respect the love she feels
for her family, her ability to work well with others, and her continual want to become a better person. Her ability to empathize with others is another thing, which she had to develop after sometime (highlighted most when instead of defending her family name like she had from blake in volume 1, she apologized to Flynt in volume 3). She can be self-sacrificing in a lot of ways, always putting the team first from volume 2 onward. She literally takes a fall instead of moving for a landing because she's using the time to cast a glyph for Blake in one of the fights, then very literally jumps into the fire to protect Yang in the fight against Flynt.

Then lord does it get complicated when it comes to her self-worth versus her self-respect because of her father. Weiss respects herself a lot because she knows what it feels like not to be respected- if she doesn't force herself to accept her own worth, no one will. Her sister helps support this in canon but, especially in Genessia, she's had a lot of incidences that have chipped away at that confidence. Without some of her "negative" traits that have been allowing her to fight through it because of her attitude of 'don't be stupid, you deserve better than this Weiss' and some aspects of her controlling nature help her to really fight back when she lacks control, that lack of self-confidence she's had lately is going to bite Positive-Weiss in the ass. Without her controlling traits, Weiss is going to feel like a lot of things are out of her control. It's not going to have a great effect on her self-confidence either when in conjunction with most of her anger being fuel to try to prove that she's worth more. Honestly, positive!Weiss might act a little more submissive as well, like how she yielded immediately to Blake in volume 3 when things started going badly instead of trying to take charge (her leadership abilities have been honed in a different direction here in Genessia, but not necessarily in all positive ways). She'll certainly have a better sense of justice and right/wrong and respect for others and their feelings/opinions though.

PLANNED THINGS:
-Bad!Weiss is going to hire Mercury as a Deputy Guardian despite objections from her current deputies because bad!Weiss thinks she knows best and thinks her idea to only act as a team is a stupid waste of her time.

-Bad!Weiss may think her opinion is more important and she's better and that good!Weiss has proven to be weak and has only lost everything she cares about bit by bit. She's going to want to make sure that she can't take the cure, which means she's going to want to find a way to keep good!Weiss from taking it because good!Weiss will know that her unchecked negative attributes are bad for everyone and want to fix it even if she personally benefits from her actions.

-Good!Weiss is forgiving. The past is the past, and she might be able to start moving on from certain things even if she's not about to put anyone who's still a threat on the good-to-go path, it'll at least help her. Because not letting go of things is having a negative impact on her moreso than anyone else, and being able to do that will probably put things in perspective for her later.

-MAYBE: What if Bad!Weiss just takes her money out of the current house and gets her own place that's really fucking nice?? Maybe Whitley can come she wants to keep an eye on him idk. Winter can come. Keep it in the family.

WHITLEY SCHNEE will not be affected by the event - but he will certainly observe and see if he can find some way to work it to his benefit ~~like encouraging Bad!Weiss to buy a really nice fucking house~~

MERCURY BLACK on the other hand... hoo boy.

-GOOD!MERCURY is a side that he's only really started to uncover recently, and is mostly driven by a fear of his worse side - the side that reminds himself so much of his father. More than anything he's going to try to make sure that his worse self can't fulfill its desires. He's not actively a hero, not selfless or righteous because he honestly doesn't feel that kind of pull in his heart. His only attachment, his only REAL attachment, is to Emerald, who he will be more protective of than ever. Other people he's allowed himself to become close to at all may also be watched a bit more closely, because he knows that...

-BAD!MERCURY is planning to kill again. It's been too damn long, and he knows that no matter what he tries to tell himself, no matter how he tries to dress himself up and play along and feign friendships, he's a killer. He likes to hurt people. It's the only thing that makes him feel anywhere near genuinely happy. But he's also not an idiot, and he knows he'll only get one shot at this, so he's going to pick his target very carefully. Someone he can abduct without much of a fight. Someone much weaker than him, physically. Someone he can knock out and take somewhere else to, once again, murder on a live feed in front of all of Genessia. Because he's sick and tired of trying to pretend be nice when no one's going to believe in him anyway, so what's the point? Let them all know he's still just a monster.

WHAT I NEED:
-A "victim"! I say this in quotes, because Good!Mercury will literally fight himself to protect whoever is abducted. He won't be alone, however, as he will have the help of a certain someone that is especially prepared to shut down Mercury quickly and effectively. This victim should most likely be someone that's come to trust him, because Bad!Mercury wants to see the look on their face, but anyone who he can capture without a fuss will ultimately do if no other such person is available.

Now that's just what I've already come up with that I definitely want him to do - I'm also open to other things outside of this miniplot, so hit me up if you want to deal with Good!Mercury as he fights his inner demons (who have become an outer demon, I guess) or Bad!Mercury, a worse version of himself than you probably thought possible.

on one hand anything that happened would be, to ME, hilarious

and merc would get over it

but weiss is the one who would probably be most fucked up by anything happening so what would YOU like to be done with this information

But seriously she currently has a pretty high opinion of Mercury, devil's advocate or not. Initially wouldn't be too difficult to KO and capture if he really wanted to, considering there's no reason for her to distrust Mercury right now.

Regardless of that happening I would like to bounce Adela off of one of the Mercs, whichever one works -- if only to establish CR further in case other stuff happens. Depending on how open the news is about what's happened in Nova City she'll probably be pretty understanding over what's happened too.

That's all I've got so far, attempted victim or not.

The only reason I could see Bad!Mercury not choosing her specifically for a victim goes back to the Battler murder thing - in the video with her in it (and mercury watched All Of The Videos because he's a sick dude), she's seen manipulating metal iirc, and while Mercury's legs are still a total secret to everyone he also might be wary of her just in case.

BUT both sides will be around in some capacity - if Adela wants to actually learn anything about Mercury Black, talking to his good(?) side might be one of the best and only chances she'll get to peek beyond the veil.

Well, talking with good merc could happen, and she would be curious to learn more about him. Who knows, he might get a peek at the cool af motorbikes she and Smoker build on a regular basis. She has essentially become a grease monkey here in Genessia after all.

weiss would probably just be really grossed out and embarrassed later but tbh it wouldn't be the worst thing she's going to do so i'm ok with it. she will just constantly glare at him any time he implies or hints at anything after this. and i could logic it with weiss that she has decided she can have whatever she wants tbh and if he's flirting with her first she could decide that she wants him 8}

His good self is probably more willing to open up about his shitty past, because he feels he can't move on from it if he doesn't own and accept it, so. You know. If she delves enough it's going to be a heavy conversation.

OOCly I do not mind heavy conversations, and although it might not be what Adela needs she would listen and give him sympathy for it, because she's too squishy like that. If it does help him move on? Awesome, and she needs something to focus on instead of just wallowing over how she's a screw-up anyway. ~~Also hearing about his past kinda makes her grateful that she had a decent parental figure around even if she was abandoned first, but details.~~

Though I've also got to wonder how Merc's going to handle all this when it's all said and done.

Distance. A lot of distance. He doesn't even talk about this stuff with Emerald, learning that he spilled it to someone else is going to make him very uncertain as to how to move forward in talking to her. He's not irked by much but BOY would that be a major irk.

... even good merc isn't going to feel bad if he learns about it, really. honestly once this is all said and done and memories of both sides kind of come back together merc is just gonna be like "oh. well that's neato"

just as long as he doesn't ever say anything whole!weiss won't hate him for it. if anything she'll probably hate herself a lil bit because god how could she why where are the standards (they were with good weiss along with her sense of right and wrong)
