Prince will become a King!
What that title means is that I'm finally sending Van on a canon update. Between him being a butt about socializing and one of the only friends he frequently talked to dropping, I think he needs this to survive as a muse in the game.
Where he's going to come back in from is a spoiler, which I'll put under a cut so that you don't have to see it if you don't want to. I know that it's an old series, but because of a redub being made recently I can understand people wanting to avoid them so they can experience the series themselves.
START SPOILERS
Basically what happens is that Van kills the dragon and brings Hitomi to Gaea. When Coronation day comes up, Van's kingdom gets attacked by the Zaibach empire using invisible Guymelefs (giant robots powered by the crystals taken from dragon hearts), with Van's kingdom getting burned to the ground, his people becoming scattered, and him escaping on his own kingdom's Guymelef (Escaflowne) with Hitomi. Sadly, this is not before his swordmaster and mentor, Balgus, is slain trying to cover for his and Hitomi's escape. He and Hitomi make it to a forest outside of his kingdom, though from there (if my memory isn't failing me) they get separated briefly. This is where I'm bringing Van back in from.
