EN TARO ADUN
Hey again! This is Chris (player of Athrun Zala, Son Gohan, and Ike) bringing in a new character. This one's different in that he is -- very obviously -- not at all human. I bring you Artanis, Hierarch of the Daelaam, from the real-time strategy juggernaut franchise, StarCraft!
Artanis is a Protoss, a very old alien species that predates humans by millennia. Protoss are noted for their "purity of form," characterized by their agile, strong, and streamlined bodies, their incredibly potent psychic powers (in fact, one of the constructs of Protoss society is the Khala, a psionic network that every Protoss born and raised on their homeworld is connected to and shares their thoughts and emotions), and their sophisticated technology -- so far beyond what humans, or most sapient races, have or comprehend that it seems like it runs on magic.
The Protoss also revere strength and the art of combat, and possess a very strong sense of honor. These traits define Artanis very well. He's a dangerous force in battle, a master in the art of the Psionic Blade (wrist-mounted energy blades made from psionic energy), and above all else, acts in accordance with his strong moral compass and a sense of justice. Many Protoss look down upon humans as a lesser species, but not Artanis -- his dealings with certain members of humanity have convinced him that Terrans (what humans are known as in the StarCraft universe) are more than capable of addressing Protoss on equal terms, in spite of their inferior technology. Additionally, he is the leader of the larger of two remaining Protoss societies in his world -- a job he neither wanted nor felt he could take, but still managed to carry it out successfully regardless.
Artanis will be coming in from the most recent installment of the StarCraft franchise, Legacy of the Void. However, due to its recent release, as well as its status of wrapping up the franchise's primary storyline, I've put up an opt-out post for those who wish to avoid spoilers. If you don't want to be spoiled, just drop me a note there, and I'll make sure to avoid spoiling you should we thread together.
Looking forward to introing him soon! That should come some time tomorrow.
