Event Dates: Oct. 4-Oct. 7
As many people know, Old Everglade is largely abandoned and for good reason. New Everglade may have a lot of current residents, but the deeper into Old Everglade you get, well… the more off-kilter and less controllable things get. It’s why most NPCs won’t tread there nowadays unless they really need something.
A teenage boy by the name of Thomas is worried for his sick grandmother. His grandmother is terminally ill and, though taken care of at Everglade’s Nightingale Care Institution, is likely not to make it through to the new year and told him about a childhood toy she had back when she used to live in Old Everglade. For this reason, Thomas ventured into Everglade’s abandoned areas and found the toy- this doll seems to have made friends, however, and in chasing it it led him to a very, very old bridge. The bridge was rickety, barely standing, but determined to see his grandmother smile one last time, Thomas persevered.
This was not the best idea Thomas has ever had. Crossing the bridge broke a series of seals that had been placed onto the bridge to cordon off an island known as the Isle of Doll. Thomas’s grandmother’s doll had been from outside of it and had been coaxed into bringing a human there to break the seal so they could become true friends, and in doing so released the dolls from the island. Though the island was small, it was filled with hundreds of abandoned dolls, all lining the edge of the island. They move in jerky, rickety movements as if they should not be moving at all. And now they’re out, and they’re coming to Everglade to find new friends. Forever friends. Friends that won’t ever, ever be able to leave them. Ever again.
Event Summary
Creepy, broken, abandoned serial killer level yandere dolls invade Everglade. If you’re there, you've got a new stalker. If you don’t pay enough attention to your new doll friend, it will turn violent. It will come after the people you care about. It may not let you leave your home. It may try to go full Five Nights at Freddy’s on you and try to turn you into a doll so you can be its friend forever, so maybe don’t let it near the black magic books or animatronics. What level of doll-inspired horror you run into is up to you, so please have fun.
Event Resolution
Characters need to go to Isle of Doll and leave a doll or toy of their own on the island to draw the dolls back. They will be satisfied with a new “friend” temporarily, so in order to draw them back this needs to be done. After 4 days, the island will be sealed off and the interim mayor’s office will announce a decree to smash all remaining dolls with specially developed exorcism hammers, now available for purchase at The Rabbit’s Foot!
OOC Details
- •There will be a log posted with prompts, but you’re welcome to make your own posts as well.
•If you don’t want your character involved, simply don’t have them found by a doll or have them keep out of Everglade during the event.
•If you want your character involved and they aren’t an Everglade resident, there will be a kickass free sample giveaway fair at Everglade’s local chocolaterie. Free chocolate. And free caramel if your character is allergic to chocolate! And free blood candy pops for vampires! And so on and so forth, just assume there’s some kind of tempting edible for your character that just sounds absolutely irresistible and they’re there for the sweets fair.
•The dolls are smart, so if your character isn’t human, they’ll find some kind of weakness in attacking. Are they a vampire? Your doll got you a lovely garlic present on every doorframe so you can’t pass now. Android? Did you know that Everglade’s black market sells electromagnetic curses that disable all electronics within a 30 foot radius? Feel free to get creative as long as the dolls don’t gain world-breaking powers. If you aren’t sure, ask a mod!
•Once your character is “befriended,” they won’t be able to leave the archway until they get their doll back on the island. This is to prevent the character from simply walking off and Everglade being abandoned; from an OOC standpoint, the dolls are not recognized as something allowed to pass through the archway because they are not technically objects nor NPCs. Once they basically “imprint” on your character, it will prevent their pendant from activating and letting them cross. Oops. :)
