WELCOME TO GENESSIA: THE BAY

Starting Point
Characters new to the city awaken within The Bay with a vague sense of having slept for too long and the grogginess that typically accompanies such a thing. They will be lying in a slightly-tilted cocoon of silver metal lined with silk and soft padding. The entire Bay is covered in about two inches of clear water, with multiple white lights throughout that dimly illuminate the enormous domed cavern of dark gray stone. There are twelve archways that all lead to the city outside. A simple white box lies on the character's chest, containing the essentials: a jeweled necklace of gold and opalescent stones (with one particular color more prominent than the others to identify which city the character may expand if they so choose), what appears to be a smart phone, a key, and a pamphlet. The pamphlet's cover states simply: 'Welcome to Genessia'. All of these items are crafted to the appropriate size for the new character. The Bay is located at the very heart of Genessia City.

The pamphlet first explains the smart phone, explaining it as a cross-city communication device, with easy instructions about how to communicate via text, audio, and/or video, and how to transmit privately, and also encourages the character to give it a try once he or she leaves the Bay. The necklace, the pamphlet goes on to further explain, is required in order to pass from Genessia City to one of the other four cities, and should be worn at all times not only to allow this ease of transportation, but to identify the owner to others in the city as 'real'. The key has a room number on it, and an address on the same street characters enter out onto upon exiting the Bay and the words "Genessia Commonspace" on one side of the key (unless you opted to choose one of the apartment buildings). The last fold in the pamphlet has a thick manila folder, where several red bills are stacked and bound by a white ribbon. The pamphlet states that this is the main currency for Genessia City in order to purchase room, board, and other necessities. It encourages the character to apply for a job in order to earn more if they so desire.

Just outside of every entrance to the Bay, new arrivals will find a magazine stand. The stand is stacked with brochures containing labeled maps of the primary city of Genessia. Next to the magazine rack is a rather high-tech looking stand that upon being approached, activates with the holographic projected image of a swarthy young man in a finely made dark blue suit, a long black ponytail down his back. He gives a brief bow and begins to speak, and subtitles in the common language of Genessia began to scroll along the bottom of the hologram.
"Greetings to you. My name is Roland Crane, mayor of Genessia City as of the time of this recording, and on behalf of Genessia and Schnee Company, I welcome you to Genessia. I'm afraid I'll have to ask for your full attention for a few minutes, as I have a lot to explain, and won't be able to respond to any questions you have as again, this is only a recording.

"Genessia is a self-contained world that pulls in inhabitants of all sorts of worlds, including you and me. The pendant you were provided with upon arriving marks you as a guest of Genessia, and you mustn't lose it for any reason, as it serves as your key to travel between regions and can't be replaced." As Roland explains the pendant, an enlarged hologram depicting one pops up beside him, rotating slowly in place before fading away.

"The device you've been given is important as well, as it allows you to communicate with others at great distances. It can be replaced, unlike your pendant, but it's expensive to do so, so try not to lose or break it." Again, a large model showing what Roland's talking about appears briefly beside him.

"There are six main regions in Genessia. The first is Genessia City, where you stand now, that serves as a central hub. Nova City is a place of advanced science and technology. Fayren is a land of magic and nature. In Everglade, undead and other creatures of the night roam freely. Attleton is a place of relative normality, compared to the other cities, but then again, that might depend on what's normal for your world. Finally, Windgate Creek only appeared recently, and we don't know as much about it.

"We might not be in our own worlds anymore, but with the help of the natives, we've maintained a thriving society where a normal, peaceful life is possible for anyone. I ask that you not entertain any ideas of disturbing that peace, as we're more than able to protect it against all comers.

"Now, I've gone on for long enough, so I'll wrap up here. More information is provided in the reading materials nearby," Roland waves an arm at the nearby magazine racks, and a large holographic arrow pops up if that wasn't enough, "and you're welcome to ask questions at any Schnee Company location or over the network. Again, welcome to Genessia, and I hope you enjoy your stay." Roland bows one final time, and the hologram winks out.

If the hologram is tampered with, a strange gas will be released from the device. It seems to be a gas that knocks biological creatures unconscious. The device also calls law enforcement for destruction of property charges.

Would you like to add a new location to the game? Most locations can be handwaved, like if there's a Chinese food place your character goes to once or something for a one time thread, but if you want to add a specific location that your character may frequent or you need for various purposes, you can add it here! You can also open subarchways. It's easy! Reply to this post with the correct form:

ADD SUBARCHWAY
ADD LOCATION

NOTICE REGARDING SUBARCHWAYS: Subarchways will not be approved if the only description provided is an outside link. You MUST provide a short single-paragraph summary in order to have your subarchway approved. This is in order to help all players who may not be familiar with canon able to quickly see what the subarchway is without having to spend hours reading wiki links. You may still include a link for further details, but it cannot be the only thing submitted to open a subarchway. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you are trying to open a character-run business, please reply to the employment page instead.

Re-submitting Subarchway Information

[personal profile] zenoh 2017-10-30 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ Note: Ayame is a castmate of Troy Dantes, the character who opened this subarchway in the past. Since her arrival, the subarchway has reopened. Pasting the old information in here again: ]

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Nova City
Subarchway Location: Dubai (Futuristic, Alternate-History)
Location Details: Much like Nova City, this version of Dubai looks like it's decades into a utopian future compared to its modern world counterpart. A balanced mix of man-made metropolis, touristy beaches, sand dunes, and traditional/historical districts, Dubai is the economic center of the Spiral Consortium of corporations. Dubai is also one of the most luxurious and highly secured cities on the planet with a diverse global populace, and one of the largest entertainment and vacation destinations for those who could afford the high prices. The city skyline is filled with sleek architecture and futuristic glass skyscrapers, with artificial islands and white sand beaches on the shores. Underneath the city lies a subterranean complex that serves as a headquarters for the Dubai branch Spiral Consortium's paramilitary/security forces, as well as the housing and construction of combat drones and frigate sized starships.

Ah, sorry to make another comment but it's been a little over a week and was wondering how things were going? I'm totally open to changing, expanding, or tweaking things if that's a problem, too.

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Attleton
Subarchway Location: U.N.I.T HQ, England, 1979
Location Details: UNIT HQ is a secret location in Northern England that houses one of England's first anti-alien government units. Under order of Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, The Brigadier, UNIT responds to any sort of crisis involving explainable phenomenon. For years their lead scientist was The Doctor (his third face) and occasionally after his exile ended, The Doctor would return. Sarah Jane Smith retains her connections to UNIT and calls them in for help should anything need cleaning up.The Archway would be both the house and the surrounding grounds.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Sarah will be loosing her ability to recognize any regeneration of the Doctor she has not met. She will also be loosing her memories of meeting The First, Second and Fifth Regenerations of the Doctor. So she only knows Three and Four (from canon) and Ten, Eleven and Twelve (from Genessia). Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under?Nova City
Subarchway Location: Planet Zeltros.
Location Details: Here's a handy wiki link.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Kay is giving up his ability to shoot/aim with accuracy. he's a combat droid and very fond of weapons, losing what is one of his main abilities is a pretty big thing for him.
k2so: (What was that...?)

[personal profile] k2so 2017-12-28 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)

Hello! Sure no problem, although most info is from the wiki itself of course:

Zeltros is the homeworld planet of the Zeltron race. It's an opulent world in a constant planet-wide party. There's an abundance of pleasurable facilities ranging from amusement parks to theatres, night clubs, and much more. Zeltrons are near-Human species, their skin is light pink to deep red, their hair varies from red to blue. Most of them are considered highly attractive by Human and non-humanoid standards. The most distinctive characteristic is that they produce potent pheromones, that enhanced their attractiveness and likeability.

Those who visit the planet are taken in by the celebratory atmosphere and the powerful pheromones of the Zeltron people to the point they'll find it difficult to leave or cause any sort of violence.

Character: Cloud Strife

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Nova City
Subarchway Location: Sector 5 Church (Midgar)
Location Details: Among the ruins of Midgar's slums lies a large, seemingly abandoned church. Both the outside and inside have seen better days with the floorboards creaking beneath your feet, half-broken support columns and pews. Though the side of the church has been destroyed, leading to the outside, that also means that even more light is able to pour in through the back. Seemingly out of place at first is the body of pure water (those that dip into it will feel immediately refreshed) & finally batches of flowers blooming before a mysterious sword, laid to rest in memorial.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Cloud will be sacrificing his ability to ride Chocobos. Back in the Gold Saucer, he became skilled enough to race his way to freedom and became rather adept at riding the large feathery companions. Not significant enough to restore more than just the surrounding area of the church, but it's all that Cloud needs.

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Nova City, because sci-fi!
Subarchway Location: The TARDIS.) 11th Doctor's Ponds version.
Location Details: Taken from 21st century London or Leadworth. Anywhere in the Ponds timeline but probably the power of three would be best.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: River's second heart.

The Pond House in 21st century London, please!

The Pond House in London is in a posh neighborhood and has a tardis blue door on the outside of it. The street itself is quiet, and there are multiple houses on either side. Across the street there appears to be a park, which is where the Doctor landed his TARDIS. Would Rory's car come too? IT's definitely okay if it doesn't.

The TARDIS itself is a blue box that would be able to travel through space but not time, I believe?

Character: Tsukasa Kadoya

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Attleton
Subarchway Location: The Hikari Photo Studio
Location Details: The Hikari Photo Studio is Decade's home base, which usually moves him through the worlds to visit. It takes on the appearance of the local businesses and area, and can be designed in such a way to blend into the world itself. The outside should always have the name Hikari Studio. Inside is a living space, and a medium sized photo room-slash-common space with a backdrop set to a background representing Genessia and development area for photos. Tsukasa will immediately move in as such and park himself there in between photography sessions. Kaitou is grudgingly invited to this mess since it's his home too. There's enough room for at least 5 people in the house.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: The memories associated with the World of Gaim and the Kamen Rider War of that year, as well as anything associated with Sea Cucumber for some reason, and the eating thereof.

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Nova City
Subarchway Location: Kalee
Location Details: This area of Kalee has a tropical rainforest/jungle leading into an ocean surrounded by mossy cliffs. There is a built-up area on the shoreline with a large pyramid-like structure at its centre, flat at the top and similar to a Mayan style of construction. Inside is a sort of cultural temple with artwork on the walls and grand statues of exalted Kaleesh and those who have been revered as godlike. Lesser side buildings lead to homes and markets. Part of the forest beyond can be entered and strange alien animals can be found within. The ocean and beach area can also be visited, all within a fairly compact area.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Giving up two of Grievous' lightsabers. He came in with four in total but these two hold a particular importance - they were taken from the pair of Jedi that inadvertently caused devastating destruction to the Kaleesh people by their sanctions and actions, resulting in thousands of deaths. These are the two that Grievous holds most responsible and so having their sabers was highly important to him. To him, it was pure justice that he fought them, defeated them and took their weapons. So giving them both up would be difficult for him but he would be glad to have something of a restored Kalee in return.

This would be for a small section of the planet only, as described in the details.
