WELCOME TO GENESSIA: THE BAY

Starting Point
Characters new to the city awaken within The Bay with a vague sense of having slept for too long and the grogginess that typically accompanies such a thing. They will be lying in a slightly-tilted cocoon of silver metal lined with silk and soft padding. The entire Bay is covered in about two inches of clear water, with multiple white lights throughout that dimly illuminate the enormous domed cavern of dark gray stone. There are twelve archways that all lead to the city outside. A simple white box lies on the character's chest, containing the essentials: a jeweled necklace of gold and opalescent stones (with one particular color more prominent than the others to identify which city the character may expand if they so choose), what appears to be a smart phone, a key, and a pamphlet. The pamphlet's cover states simply: 'Welcome to Genessia'. All of these items are crafted to the appropriate size for the new character. The Bay is located at the very heart of Genessia City.

The pamphlet first explains the smart phone, explaining it as a cross-city communication device, with easy instructions about how to communicate via text, audio, and/or video, and how to transmit privately, and also encourages the character to give it a try once he or she leaves the Bay. The necklace, the pamphlet goes on to further explain, is required in order to pass from Genessia City to one of the other four cities, and should be worn at all times not only to allow this ease of transportation, but to identify the owner to others in the city as 'real'. The key has a room number on it, and an address on the same street characters enter out onto upon exiting the Bay and the words "Genessia Commonspace" on one side of the key (unless you opted to choose one of the apartment buildings). The last fold in the pamphlet has a thick manila folder, where several red bills are stacked and bound by a white ribbon. The pamphlet states that this is the main currency for Genessia City in order to purchase room, board, and other necessities. It encourages the character to apply for a job in order to earn more if they so desire.

Just outside of every entrance to the Bay, new arrivals will find a magazine stand. The stand is stacked with brochures containing labeled maps of the primary city of Genessia. Next to the magazine rack is a rather high-tech looking stand that upon being approached, activates with the holographic projected image of a swarthy young man in a finely made dark blue suit, a long black ponytail down his back. He gives a brief bow and begins to speak, and subtitles in the common language of Genessia began to scroll along the bottom of the hologram.
"Greetings to you. My name is Roland Crane, mayor of Genessia City as of the time of this recording, and on behalf of Genessia and Schnee Company, I welcome you to Genessia. I'm afraid I'll have to ask for your full attention for a few minutes, as I have a lot to explain, and won't be able to respond to any questions you have as again, this is only a recording.

"Genessia is a self-contained world that pulls in inhabitants of all sorts of worlds, including you and me. The pendant you were provided with upon arriving marks you as a guest of Genessia, and you mustn't lose it for any reason, as it serves as your key to travel between regions and can't be replaced." As Roland explains the pendant, an enlarged hologram depicting one pops up beside him, rotating slowly in place before fading away.

"The device you've been given is important as well, as it allows you to communicate with others at great distances. It can be replaced, unlike your pendant, but it's expensive to do so, so try not to lose or break it." Again, a large model showing what Roland's talking about appears briefly beside him.

"There are six main regions in Genessia. The first is Genessia City, where you stand now, that serves as a central hub. Nova City is a place of advanced science and technology. Fayren is a land of magic and nature. In Everglade, undead and other creatures of the night roam freely. Attleton is a place of relative normality, compared to the other cities, but then again, that might depend on what's normal for your world. Finally, Windgate Creek only appeared recently, and we don't know as much about it.

"We might not be in our own worlds anymore, but with the help of the natives, we've maintained a thriving society where a normal, peaceful life is possible for anyone. I ask that you not entertain any ideas of disturbing that peace, as we're more than able to protect it against all comers.

"Now, I've gone on for long enough, so I'll wrap up here. More information is provided in the reading materials nearby," Roland waves an arm at the nearby magazine racks, and a large holographic arrow pops up if that wasn't enough, "and you're welcome to ask questions at any Schnee Company location or over the network. Again, welcome to Genessia, and I hope you enjoy your stay." Roland bows one final time, and the hologram winks out.

If the hologram is tampered with, a strange gas will be released from the device. It seems to be a gas that knocks biological creatures unconscious. The device also calls law enforcement for destruction of property charges.

Would you like to add a new location to the game? Most locations can be handwaved, like if there's a Chinese food place your character goes to once or something for a one time thread, but if you want to add a specific location that your character may frequent or you need for various purposes, you can add it here! You can also open subarchways. It's easy! Reply to this post with the correct form:

ADD SUBARCHWAY
ADD LOCATION

NOTICE REGARDING SUBARCHWAYS: Subarchways will not be approved if the only description provided is an outside link. You MUST provide a short single-paragraph summary in order to have your subarchway approved. This is in order to help all players who may not be familiar with canon able to quickly see what the subarchway is without having to spend hours reading wiki links. You may still include a link for further details, but it cannot be the only thing submitted to open a subarchway. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you are trying to open a character-run business, please reply to the employment page instead.

Character: Sebastian Michaelis
Username: [personal profile] blackcrowsings
Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Nova City

Subarchway Location: Phantomhive Manor and the surrounding estate property, which includes the courtyards, the gardens, the fountain, the furniture inside, the gardens, the surrounding forest with the animals, the stray cats

Location Details: The Phantomhive Manor

Notable NPCs: Just one, Tanaka, the house steward/previous senior butler. The rest are nameless sprites of a butler, maids, and servants at Sebastian's beck and call.

Price Character is Paying for Archway: His abilities relating to his knowledge and desire to be a butler/Silver Service, meaning he won't be able to tell the difference between a soup spoon from a desert spoon, or using the different utilities in the kitchen and he'll be extremely forgetful when doing specific butler related tasks that require more knowledge and finesse to his expertise. He can still do basic things like dressing, cooking, gardening, but being forgetful he can do one task at a time with a lot less grace.

Ah, you're right. I actually thought so too. Here's my explanation: I chosen Nova City because Ciel and Sebastian live there and that's where their company is located, and I asked Ciel-mun what is his choice of city, and he chosen Nova City. So I pick the city based on Ciel's preference and by default, basing on where they currently live and work, that is all.

As to how they end up working in Nova City, that was the city Ciel currently lives when Sebastian entered the game, and the rest is history.

Though if it were up to me since the subarchaway technically under my control, I would go with mod's decision.

EDIT 11/2: Ciel is dropped as of today. So location of Subarchway is left up to mod's choice.

Character: Cassian Lynch
Username: [personal profile] feckinboomstick
Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Everglade
Subarchway Location: His house in Kilkenny
Location Details: It's a small brick house a few decent hundred years old. Originally the rectory of a church, the actual church part burned down long before Cassian came, and the remaining structure had been repaired and turned into a house. It's four rooms, two on the bottom floor and two on top, with a oak wood fence and an enchanted frog pond behind it. Despite all the charm it appears to have, the frogs in the frog pond have basic human language skills, and have all learned how to curse just like their grumpy owner.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: In order to get in, he's giving up his ability to drink whiskey. He figures it's for the best, but that's not going to stop him from occasionally trying just to make sure. Just to make sure, not because he totally regrets giving up that ability.

Character: Szelhamos
Username: [personal profile] sarcastass
Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Everglade
Subarchway Location: Third circle of Hell, Gluttony.
Location Details: While Szel certainly doesn't want all of Gluttony here, the particular section he wants is the central fortress, where Beelzebub, lord of Gluttony and a prince of Hell holds reign over the third circle, and houses himself and his favored servants.

The fortress from the outside is a massive, Eastern European castle, reminiscent of Romanian architecture and old fashioned, Gothic stylings. The surrounding lands seethe and writhe with insects and rot, and the only real entrance to the castle itself is through the main door, protected by a series of retractable iron spikes.

Inside is massive and usually full of servants and life, and in direct contrast to the piles of stinking, buzzing rot outside, is remarkably clean and well ordered. The halls are massive and open, noticeably no tripping hazards or clutter anywhere, and while there's always servants in every corner of the fortress itself, it's entirely possible to walk through the whole thing and only see one or two people due to it's size.

There are sections dedicated to entertainment and rest like any other high end, fancy, massive living space, but of course since these are demons we're talking about, they may not be appealing to everyone.

There is also a massive library, which is located directly in Szel's section of the fortress. This section, while painfully neat and clean, is made most noteworthy by the iron and steel cable webbing that stretches across the high, humongous ceiling, acting as passageways for the massive spider if he doesn't want to be seen.

Price Character is Paying for Archway: In order to pay for the subarch, Szel will begrudgingly give up his ability to taste expensive, high class wine of all kinds. This will also include some lower class drinks, so someone is going to have to start dumping out his merlot and refilling the bottles with sparkling grape juice.

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Everglade, because World of Darkness is a supernatural horror setting.
Subarchway Location: Stateline, Nevada - 2008 - Storage Unit 47B
Location Details: An empty storage unit. http://tinyurl.com/hzvz6wt - Whatever it once held must have been important for a Subarchway to be opened here, but whatever its contents, it's gone now.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: The ability to sing in front of strangers -- Tannu will have to rely on instruments for any busking he does going forward. (This Subarchway is leading to what is essentially a 5x10 metal and concrete room, with nothing included outside it. Tannusen literally just wants his chimera/motorcycle that he knows was stored there at that time.)

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Nova City
Subarchway Location: Hanging Gardens of Daleska
Location Details: A massive many-tiered garden of intricate stone and marble with an accompanying courtyard, the Hanging Gardens is an ancient landmark that is the home to many types of vibrantly colored flora and small fauna. It's the pride of the Kingdom of Hazaeth. The entrance to the gardens is a long, beautiful wisteria tunnel. More Information.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Mobius will give up the memory of his engagement to the love of his life, Almarei. He'll still remember her and think of her as fondly as he always had, but won't remember that he proposed to her in the very gardens he's bringing.

Subarchway Location: The Hat Mansion
Location Details: A massive, top hat shaped mansion, filled with magical, medical and scientific oddities, artwork of all kinds, labs, testing rooms, bed rooms, kitchens and any array of other things your typical high tech high class evil lair can provide.

It also has a kick ass security system.

Comes with one giant coral snake named Lil Jack.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Black Hat is losing the ability to operate the anti gravity device in any capacity.

Either turning it on.

Or off.

Subarchway Location: The Tardis

Price Character is Paying for Archway:
His Gallifreyan ability to need less sleep than humans. This would make Ten more human-like sleep wise. As well as, under biochemistry on the wiki; the ability to shrug off the efforts of intoxication. Ten can be a bit of a party Doctor and drinker.

Of course, the Tardis would not time travel either. It is possible, however, if the Tardis could still fly but only within Nova City.

Can change or add if that's not enough :)

20th Century London, Earth is the most commonly used location. Specifically, this would be the 20th century London, Earth that has 'Bad Wolf' graffiti in random spots, given canon point. As far as which part of London, it could just be a small section of Rose's neighborhood or it could also include Big Ben but it would be a part of the city.

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? I'm assuming Attleton? Maybe Fayren? Wherever it fits best
Subarchway Location: Nassau (Black Sails)
Location Details: Nassau in the year of 1715 is a pirate-infested, lawless town, with the main attractions being its inns, brothels and infamous residents. There's usually a fair number of pirate ships anchoring in the bay and smaller boats by the harbor. The beach right in Nassau proper holds a pirate camp and is not tourist-friendly, outside town it remains untouched, with systems of caves both inhibited and not. Fort Nassau looms over the town. Caution is advised wherever you go, travel armed and in groups only. More information
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Memory of Eleanor's father Richard telling her in XIII. that he is proud of her and what she has accomplished.

Which Archway is this Subarchway being established under? Attleton seems most apt? It's a completely normal setting other than the sheer number of rhinos.
Subarchway Location: Kyrat
Location Details: The wiki page: http://farcry.wikia.com/wiki/Kyrat
Map of the country: http://www.unfinishedman.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/far-cry-4-world-map-kyrat.jpg.
Sub-archway would, ideally, open to just outside of the Royal Palace. Any online estimates I can find place the square milage of Kyrat below that of New York City, and the area itself is far sparser and less populated. If this isn't possible I can select a smaller portion.
Price Character is Paying for Archway: Memories of Noore Najjar, and what he has made her become, since he's rather proud of it and she is now one of his inner circle and one of his main lieutenants. She came to Kyrat initially as a doctor working with aid organizations in his early days of reign. She wrote a paper against the atrocities she saw in Kyrat, and he invited her and her family to his palace to show her a 12-step plan for improving the country. When she spoke out again, he took her family captive, and under threat of their lives forced her to become one of his lieutenants, and has her run the arena, overseeing vicious blood sports and trafficking humans as both participants and slaves as well as running his heroin business via the processing of opium. He mentions believing the former doctor has come to enjoy it, and seems amused by the idea.
