Buenos días, Genessia! I couldn't quite find my footing with Miki Aono, so I've decided to let her go for now. :(

However, I finally caved to the urge to bring in a second second character in the form of Mamoru Chiba (aka Tukedo Kamen/Prince Endymion) in her place. Mamoru will be hailing from the end of Act #49, right before the start of the Stars Arc, and will thus be falling in line with both manga continuity and Naoko Takeuchi's original construct of his character — legit powers, more reserved/introverted, somewhat socially inept, possesses a ~legendary crystal~ of his very own, no ridiculous age gap, doesn't throw roses or give pointless speeches, actually has importance to plot and story arcs, etc.

Feelings in regards to what the first anime did with his character, I have lots of them, but we'd be here all day if I got started on that. I will just bless Crystal for being a more faithful adaptation, instead.

...oh yeah, and this is Tamzin! Zuko's player, and now Mamoru's player, too. (And perhaps one more. Maybe. I am very tempted...)

By which I mean Mamoru is a lovely magical girl boy and I somewhat can't wait for him to find out and Usagi's and Minako's business... Because that will be a treat.

manga continuity is the only continuity for me, especially where mamo-chan is concerned. and seeing as he's technically sailor earth, he's an honorary magical girl, if nothing else. XD

and yes, he will have things to say about this business they're running.

apparently he was directly referred to as sailor earth in the latest seramyu, but i haven't sat down and watched all of petite étrangère yet to be able to verify this.

I think I remember something like that. And unlike in the anime, I remember him to be so much more powerful in the manga.

he was. his power was supposed to be somewhat equal to sailor moon's, although he didn't tap until his full potential until the end of the dream arc. and then died immediately at the start of the stars arc, so we never really got to see him wield it, sob.

Yeeeeessssss. XD It alternates between the worst and the best, but it's got so much nostalgia value for me! So I stick with it.

i know what you mean. i may've recently shelled out the money to own all of the dic dub on dvd, because it was such an integral part of my childhood. i tried to watch what's out of the viz redub and couldn't stand any of the new voice actors long enough to get through more than a handful of episodes before i gave up on it. terri hawkes or bust, imo.

quinn fabray from glee (who would be cr!au from a previous game) or sookie stackhouse from true blood. i'm leaning more towards quinn atm.

I haven't watched either canon, so I guess you won't hear any rabid pleading for one or the other from me, ho ho!

And yeah, I love the Dic VA's from all the edited stuff, they're just so classic. (The one after that was like getting stabbed in the ear with a screwdriver.) And of course I loved Raye's VA. And Lita. And the cats. And Molly's heavy accent.

yeah, i am not a fan of any of the voice actors cloverway hired to replace the ones from the principal dic cast that didn't transfer over when they started dubbing the next two seasons. i found serena's cloverway voice actor to be particularly painful. >.o;

Holy shit, my EARS. I also really liked the American version of the music far more than the Japanese version. I might be alone on that preference, though!

no, no, not just your preference! i'm really digging the music choices in the new anime, but the japanese music in the original was a little too 80s-esque for my tastes. i preferred the dic dub music, too, and was disappointed when cloverway didn't keep any of it (but i guess they didn't have the rights to use something dic had produced).

Yeah, the Dic music was fantastic! And totally fit the show, too. It was jarring when I heard what the original music was. So I'm glad it's not just bias toward the familiar.

idk if you're watching sailor moon crystal or not, but you'll be happy to know that the music has vastly improved.

I watched the first three or four episodes, but...again, another unpopular opinion...the animation kind of bugs me? I mean, I loved the trailer, and I was pretty excited. But the pacing seems super rushed, and there are so many cases where the eyes aren't proportionately accurate...going in different directions, one being way off center. I dunno why, it just bugs me. XD I did like that they kept Jadeite's thinking that Rei was hot.

we all have our opinions! crystal isn't everyone's cup of tea. the animation personally doesn't bother me. i suppose it can seem rushed, because the episodes are falling in line with the manga acts in attempt to be a truly faithful adaptation of the manga that the original anime failed to be. the manga lacks the filler, so crystal is lacking that filler, as well. the manga has always been my favorite, so i'm honestly just thrilled to see a proper adaptation of it.

I do enjoy the manga! The Sailor V volumes were especially cute. I guess I just like the old crappy version the best, ah ha ha!

nope! a few passing similarities aside, he's something of the polar opposite of his original anime counterpart. thank god.

manga mamoru is the only mamoru for me.

I srsly loved Mamo-chan from the manga. He's so cool and excellent. ANd like you I can go on and on about how manga is better for him. o.o

But yay for Mamo-chan. And yay for your two choices for third character!!!!! Usagi will still miss Miki though. u.u

yes, the manga was so so so so much better for him. i really don't understand a lot of the choices made in the direction the original anime decided to go in, and not just for his character. though i get particularly worked up about things involving him in that adaptation, since he's my favorite character from the manga. supers in particular ticks me off, since the dream arc was like his arc and that storyline was shifted primarily to chibi-usa or written off as helios-specific, uhg.

now i just have to decide between sookie and quinn, though i'm really leaning more towards quinn...

yeah, the anime sucked for him. It's almost like, he's there, Sailor Moon thinks he's awesome,.. but we don't really see it. Yeah, there were lots of areas where you just look at his anime self and wonder what's up with that? He lost most of his shining moments from manga. T_T

the r movie was the closest the original anime came to being anything like the feel of the manga, even though fiore had no part in the manga. i also disliked that the anime seemed against letting usagi grow up, both in physical and mental age. she was in middle school forever in the anime and didn't seem to mature as firmly as she did in the manga.

it will probably be quinn, since i've got my slice of mind powers with mamoru. she'd be cr!au, too, so it wouldn't be her first jamjar rodeo.
