Exciting news for all you Olympics fans!

We've been going through the list of your suggestions and questions, and can now present you with the full list of competitions held at the 2017 Attleton Olympics. Some of them are adapted from games in the Star Wars universe, other suggestions from our fellow players. We will be having both athletic and non-athletic disciplines, hopefully giving everyone a chance to participate in a discipline of their choice.

You can now start plotting and forming teams. Sign-ups go till July 20th.

Presenting the Olympic competitions...



Shockball

• Teams of 3


• You attempt to stun members of the opposing team with an electrically charged ball.


• First team stunned has lost. After 20 minutes, the team with more non-stunned players wins.


• Played with ball scoops and insulating mitts

Fencing

• One-on-one


• Just like regular swordfighting, but your weapons will come with an unexpected twist!


• First blood wins. As murder is not welcome at this event, killing your opponent will lose you the match.

Nerf-throwing

• Group competition


• Why not javelin? Why should we, when we could be throwing space cows? To avoid trouble with space PETA, athletes will be throwing fake nerfs.


• In each round, you throw three nerfs.

Greco-Roman wrestling

• Albeit an Olympic classic, Attleton judges will be more likely to reward success than perfect technique

Zero-G swimming

• Swimming, but inside a zero gravity "pool" in the colosseum - sorry, water lovers!


• 200m freestyle

Chess

• The classic game, now Olympic in Attleton! No human chess figures, promise

Trivia

• One-on-one


• To keep things fair for our athletes from different times and worlds, this quiz will cover Genessia-related trivia questions

Videogames

• One-on-one


• Game of choice this year: an actual literal dance-off in the Genessia version of Dance Dance Revolution!

For all these competitions, players are encouraged to communicate with their opponents and decide on a winner. If an agreement can't be found in a timely manner, or you'd rather let Lady Luck decide, we will RNG the results. The number of rounds played will depend on the sign-ups.


For the following competitions, there will only be one big melee battle played - as soon as we have the complete list of sign-ups, we will RNG the ranking to give you plenty of time for plotting.

Paintball

• Last being standing


• You are supposed to score paint hits, friends, this is no actual guerilla warfare! Nevertheless, making teams (and betraying them, as only one can win) is expected.
  

Podracing

• A simplified form of classic Podracing, racing on modified hooverboards from Nova City.


• Racers are provided with a base Pod, which they can customize according to their personal tastes.


• There will be plenty of time to practice before the big race, as practicing on the streets of Attleton is discouraged

Relay race

• Teams of two, competing in one big race


• Caution, athletes, the "hurdles" in this track competition are going to be full of nasty surprises for the unwary!

Besides the sports you can compete on, there will be a few more competitions held by the NPCs. While you can't sign up for these, you are welcome to visit the tournaments and cheer on our fierce Attleton folks! The spectator sports this year are Sumo and Pelota Purepecha, a sport which will remind you of hockey, but with a lot more fire on the field!

Now you may be wondering, that's all nice and good, but how to ensure the Games are fair? The organizers have found a solution for this. On the sign-up forms, all athletes agree not to use any supernatural powers to gain an advantage. This is our Olympic oath, no doping! In case of cheating, we have doping controls - right there in the arena! The sign-up form includes a waiver, in which athletes agree to be put under a no-cheating spell. While your powers will work just fine, using them will have you light up in neon colors for everyone to see.

Player-owned businesses are welcome to sponsor a competition, or a Pod.

While there's no deadline for this, drop us a line if you'd like your character to help out IC. Volunteers are needed for all events, food stalls, organisation and so on... There is no pay, but the Games' mascot, a pokemon plushie wearing a shirt with the Olympic logo, will be yours. That's waaay better than red bills, right?

Would technically non-humans be barred from certain events even if they don't have powers? I thought about Gale taking part in that one as Kharon (if he's allowed since he makes that his alter-ego's thing?), but I don't know if cyborgs would be considered "fair" for a physical skill event like that one.

Okay, so, powers. Colette has enhanced strength that comes with her being an angel. It's not something she activates, and half the time she forgets she even has it until she tries to lift a 200 pound man and oh wow he's lighter than he looks I can carry him with one hand. She also has super hearing and shit, and, of course, has wings. The wings she can choose when to bring them out, but the rest not so much.

How would the no power rule apply to this? Would the spell effect these abilities?
